In Hawaii, I was pretty appalled by how much invasive species had taken over everything and left many endemic species on the brink, both plants and animals. We're less careless than we used to be about moving organisms all around, but a whole lot of damage has been done.

Sue, that's already happening with illegal smuggling and unintentional/accidental introductions, as well as intentional introductions with respect to plants, ie people taking seeds from a plant in one country to take home for their gardens etc. But the ultimate long-term ecological impact from these types of activities is best answered by Jenny I think.
