OK, here is where I see the parody and humor in it. For the first time it was deemed 'safe' for Bush to not only land in daylight but have an official welcome. Then he enters an area so heavily fortified it scary. Every journalist is screened and searched throughly for anything. Bags, cameras, pens, everything. He has guards and army personnel everywhere... and the true threat to him was a guy and his shoes... call it black humor but it''s there... Some people will just hate on him regardless and those people should be ignored, but the way he dodged those shoes was EPIC. If he had been injured or a real threat then the amount of 'teasing' I believe would be decreased greatly. the fact that he took it with great humor I think has allowed people to see (and some relish) in the funny side of it. Was it disrespectful? Hell yes. But does Bush deserve that reporter's respect? There is a significant disconnect between the amount of respect Bush has among the Iraqi and the amount of respect he portrays that they have for him. This incident was striking because the attitude portrayed by the 'attacker' was in such sharp contrast to the attitude Bush believes the Iraqi hold toward him. That this disparity was, quite literally, thrown at his face is a cathartic relief to a whole lot of Americans. - Kevin Fox
