Assuming you are marketing locally not globally - we have a create business advantage as SEO from a professional costs lots - if you do the basics yourself wisely it can have a big impact on your business. Local modifiers such as states, big towns linked to your keywords can work very well.

Being a virtual assistant, my ideal clients don't necessarily have to be local but baby steps is the way to go, so initially I am definitely looking at marketing locally. I have already started to learn the SEO basics and my website isn't rating too badly in Google - 14th locally and I haven't even posted my blog yet! Still on Day 6 and now waiting for my subdomain to come through which I've included my keyword in. It can only get better from here:)

market sam. is great. i've only ever used google adwords keyword generator and wordtracker, this gives me exactly what i need without having to think too much. it is taking me a while to take everything in. i'm new to internet marketing this year but quite proud of the fact that my business site is on page 10 of google after doing the basic SEO...

I'm new to it too. Didn't even see your message until now. Isn't there a more button? I'm up to day 4 now. Have done the tutorials but trying to figure out how to do an affiliate,copy etc in relation to my product - which is me! I'm a virtual assistant and don't have a blog as yet. Any suggestions how i can apply all of this without an actual product?!

hmm i guess u can still use the lessons to get ur blog/site ranked for a keyword/phrase....as for affiliate product, its mostly used for testing the market.... if you already know that the market is good then maybe you could try making an ebook on how be a virtual assistant?...

You're right, I already know the market is good so I'll use the time to catch up some more and not worry too much about affiliates at this stage. I hope to do this again in the future with some fresh ideas but need to concentrate on business for the mo. cheers.
