Apparently, my DL has been suspended since 12/21 and they sent the notification to my old address. So, I've been riding around for over a month now with my kids and everything and could have been sent to jail had I even got pulled over for anything.
- Rah-PM 2012
Sounds like a new DA. She actually didn't talk down to me like poop she just scraped off her shoe. Gave me a reasonable option to resolve the situation. Not that I actually have the money, but she's being flexible.
- Rah-PM 2012
Parents and non-parents who have experience with kids: My daughter is stressing me out. She is eight-years old and has horrible separation anxiety. It's gotten better, but she still clings to me to the point of exhaustion. She constantly makes me late for work because she "diddle daddles" around. She cries and whines all the time.
I've tried everything. We wake up early, get her things ready at night, I ignore her when she cries and whines, I even tried creating goals and rewards so she will stop this behavior, and she still continues. Any advice is appreciated.
- Shevonne
Sounds like you're handling it the best way possible. Unless there is an assignable cause, it's probably a "phase". Hang in there.
- MoTO Bott
from Android
Yeah, as MoTO said, sounds like you're doing everything you can and it may be a phase. My 7yr old used to (and sometimes reverts to) the same thing. He used to be very clingy with his mom, but it's easier for me with boys. You can't really tell a girl to "man up." LOL.
- Rah-PM 2012
@Rah My dad used to tell us that all the time, so I might have to resort to doing that. Hahaha
- Shevonne
I was like this as a kid and, to be honest, I think it was rooted in some other social anxiety issues I had at the time. I eventually got past it (mostly), but I wish someone had taken the time to see what the problem actually was and help me deal with that anxiety about non-family social situations. ETA: my family members who told me to just get over it basically taught me that I...

Good point, Katy with an S. At the very least, listening is paramount. Ultimately though, sometimes I tell Waif, "It looks like we just have to ride this one out."
- MoTO Bott
@Katy Isabelle used to be like that. I couldn't put her in sports or activities because she would scream if I left. However, this past summer, she started being really outgoing. I'm really hoping that it's a passing phase. Then again, when she stops thinking her mother is "cool," Ill be the one with the separation anxiety. :)
- Shevonne
My 8 yr old was a very much like this when she was younger, and still wouldn't think of having a sleepover even at her best friend's house that she has known for over 4 years (her friend does sleep over with us, sometimes). I think you are doing the right things - lots of reassurance and cuddles when there is time, but also the firmness that you need to leave at the proper time without...

"NEVER before seen pictures that appear to show Adolf Hitler rehearsing for his hate-filled speeches have emerged. The amazing pictures, taken in the 1920s, depict the Fuhrer in a series of poses, using a series of bizarre expressions and gestures, which he would practise and review before addressing the German public."

I wish I didn't live in a place where this is such a big deal. Such a minor issue taking up major time. We don't even want people to have the option to do stuff that has nothing to do with us. I mean wow.
- Rah-PM 2012
Remember: contraception can prevent abortions. I bet if altar boys could get pregnant the catholic church would be all for contraception. The male hipocrisy in this is staggering. Also, in real catholic countries like Belgium, Spain, Italy, France and even Ireland, contraception is not an issue at all.
- Rene, Pro Button Pusher
I'm not a religious expert or anything, but does the bible or anything really even mention contraception? I'm probably opening an entirely vague, volatile, and gray can of worms with that question, huh? LOL
- Rah-PM 2012
Pretty sure if God wants you preggers, a thin bit of latex isnt going to stop him.

You could possibly use something like Recuva to recover them. Like Glen said, it should be recoverable so long as there werent' any writes or file changes after the deletion.

For some reason, Derrick, I really can't imagine you saying "holy shit" about a movie trailer. ANY movie trailer... (I mean, I can see you getting excited, just not using that particular phrase.)

I apparently left this open on my phone during lunch then went to a meeting and just now seeing that I didn't upload it. D'oh!

Got a certified letter yesterday. Nearly crapped my pants. Why am I afraid of receiving certified mail? Well, that's the kind of life I've made for myself, I guess.
I understand your paranoia; I've never a received a certified letter that was good.

No. Not too bad. Just another entity letting me know that they will be helping make sure I once again won't see any of my tax refund. Could have been MUCH worse.

Some group (AV? yearbook?) in my 12th grade class did one. I also had the whale sounds one from National Geo. I might still have them somewhere.

McDonald's put one in the news paper when I was a kid. If the crew on the record was able to sing the entire menu, you won the contest. I still remember the entire song, even though my disc wasn't a winner.
- Rah-PM 2012
YES! We had heaps of Solid Gold ones.
- Melly Botts
I still have that McDonalds one that Rah was talking about, and some others. I also remember having to stack coins near the middle to weight them down so they would spin and not get held still by the weight of the arm holding the needle.

"The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County. In passing the 37-page ordinance on Tuesday, officials sought to outline responsibilities for law enforcement and other public agencies while also providing clarification on beach-goer activities that could potentially disrupt or even injure the public. According to Lucy Kim, from the LA County Department of Beaches and Harbors, a first-time offender will have to pay a $100 fine. For a second offense, beach-goers will face a $200 fine. Three or more infractions within one year will result in a $500 fine, Kim said."

Your kids could also end up costing you big bucks: the ordinance also prohibits digging any hole deeper than 18 inches into the sand except where permission is granted for film and TV production services only.
- SteVe C
Surely there is some back story where someone died or something that makes this make sense?
- Rah-PM 2012
Dude I don't think i would ever be let out of prison if this were the case when i was growing up in HB

Rah, that's what I asked this morning when I posted this. "Some councilman's daughter get Marsha'd?"

I've seen much worse, but it wasn't my favorite. Prince is still my favorite. I will say that Madonna does understand spectacle.
- Katy S
i love it because the production was done by Moment Factory and Cirque du Soleil so i feel like Montreal put on the show. ya, i'm Canadian. we do that. ; )
- jambina
Girl, I was there with you and I wasn't crazy about it. I did like the Cirque du Soleil vibe but could have done without Madonna.
- Corinne L
I wish they would have just left the cirque peeps on, the guy on the wire was the most entertaining part :)
- Scott (Honey Boo-Boo!)
I thought it was okay. It didn't blow me away. It seemed awkward and stilted at times (pretty much all of her dancing) but she gets a thumbs up for theatricality. The stage was amazing. I think I liked everything but her actual performance. That and her new single. Yuck.
- DB Botts - Just DB Botts
It was horrible. And Madonna moved, well, like a 52 year old woman.
- The original Kevin
I was mainly impressed by how good it looked for something put on in Indianapolis. A very national- or world-level production. I wasn't overly concerned about the details since it's only a few minutes long, not a full-blown concert. I enjoyed hearing a few old Madonna songs.

^This. I really appreciate that they don't show anyone who is really horrible like they do on Idol and some of the other shows. I've stopped watching the other ones because that drives me batty.

I love that the auditions are all people with good voices. We're dvring it tonight, but I'll be very excited to watch it tomorrow.
- <3Heather<3
Derrick - Aside from the fact that the people are actually talented, I like that it isn't mean-spirited like a lot of other reality shows.
- Katy S
No, I get that. My lack of interest stems from going to film school and writing and producing and not being to find any work because of reality and "non-scripted" shows. I might be a little bitter. Also, I work nights, am in school and don't have much time. I mean if Adam Levine can't get me to watch, there's little hope. Enjoy it!
- Derrick
That totally makes sense. And, like anything else, it's not for everyone.
