This isn't as crazy as it sounds, and it's not just kids doing it. In the past couple of days, I've had three different adults tell me that they researched 3 different things on YouTube: quitting smoking, tattoo removal, and yoga. That's stuff I would have googled. All 3 people are what I would call "mainstream" computer users, too. - Sarah Perez
My co-worker told me to search YT for videos on how to pick up a downed motorcycle. It was right there! - MiɳiMagɘ (Sexy Scimitar)
I read so much faster than anyone can vid, it doesn't make sense for me to 'YouTube' something unless I specifically need a moving visual aid (as is helpful in learning how to pick up a downed motorcycle) - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
I have looked for recipes on Youtube. It's helpful to see recipes on youtube because they demonstrate how to cook it, so you get a sense of how it's really done, and whether it's easy or hard - moreso than with a recipe. - Justin Long

Small world, my best friend lives off of Kelley. - Katie
Katie: my favorite restaurant, Tres Amigos, is on Kelley. - Robert Scoble
Yes yes...good stuff! We walk there when I visit! - Katie
I used to live right by Tres Amigos. Loved that place. Who needed to cook? - todd
Exactly. I think we eat there at least twice when I visit and I visit once a year at least. And we spend at least every morning at the Coffee Company not as much for the food as much for the meeting spot. - Katie
Katie and todd: makes me think we should do a FriendFeed meetup there soon! - Robert Scoble
If I get up there, I"ll have to mention it. I was hoping for the holidays but I may have to work. - Katie
in shanghai, no jet lag at all :-) - Gregory Lent

Is it possible to be a part of something and not fully understand it? I like the summary of "syndication exposes, aggregation combines, and filtering exposes". Although I keep thinking filtering is more... maybe personalizes. - Floyd Davenport
Floyd - oops that needs editing. Filtering is the intelligence. My bad! - Kevin
Thanks... that makes sense to me... - Floyd Davenport
You ask a good question. I think it's hard for people to relax in a freerange enterprise if they don't grok the culture. It's also important that their family understand that life is different. Freeranging can be stressful on the family where an SO expects a person to leave work at the office. - Kevin

“msi wind or samsung nc10 netbook?”
2 hours ago - Link
and can the samsung run osx? - Cee Bee
is there any way you could send a boxee invite to cj.covell@me.com - CJ Covell
Apple's EULA states that you can only run their OS on their hardware. If you don't get it from Apple, technically you can't use their OS, even if it will run on it. - April Russo
anyone else? lol - Cee Bee
You can tweak either to run OSX, right? Out of those two, I've heard better things about the MSI Wind. - Helen Sventitsky
There's really very little difference between netbooks currently. My sole criteria usually is that the keyboard doesn't have the crippled right shift key (where it's half the size of a normal shift key). These 2 don't so there goes that criteria. =) But I like MSI cause they're very overclock-friendly. Hell their last BIOS update actually gives you the ability to overclock the proc by up to 24% at the touch of a button. - saeba

Well said. I love my Saturn Aura. It's as good as any other car I've owned in its price category (and my dad loves Toyotas, my brother owns a Honda, and my wife has a BMW so the Scobles have a good variety of cars). The Ford Flex I was loaned was a great car, albeit is too big and only got 17 MPG on average (which is good for an SUV). - Robert Scoble
While I don't think American cars are total junk, I am nowhere near willing to risk $40K and 5 years on it. The shocking thing is that they price their cars as much as their Japanese counterparts. That is just insane! The American manufacturers need to take the Hyundai route... sell them cheap and put a wicked sweet warranty on them. Then we could talk... - John Denver
John: the problem with US automakers is the labor costs and historical costs (pensions, health care, etc) are MUCH higher than in other countries. You really need to visit China to understand just how nice American workers have it. Very little pollution. Decent healthcare. Non-crowded cities. etc. So, when you say "lower prices to same as Koreans" then you really need to understand the impact of what you're asking for. More offshoring of jobs to countries where they mistreat their citizens. - Robert Scoble
Yep, spot on. Brilliant post Erin - Mo Kargas
I've owned 2 Fords, 1 Honda, 1 Nissan, and 3 Porsches. The Fords were by far the worst cars I've owned. In addition, almost all the rental cars that were American made were inferior to the Japanese or Mini-Cooper I've rented. - Chris White
Chris: my Saturn is 10x better than any American rental car I've ever gotten my hands on. Not even close. This is part of the reason why US brands have poor brands here: because they sell their cheapest products to the car rental companies. - Robert Scoble
Fords of old were bad. So were the rest. People don't realize how the Big 3 have changed. Which is exactly why I wrote the post - Erin Kotecki Vest
I doubt there are any US cars, at any price that I would prefer over what I drive now. I remember showing one of my cars to some people from GM, and they were just stupefied how so much power could be packed into such a small space. - Chris White
if the problem is not the cars, not the innovation, not the sales level, then what is the problem? pensions? healthcare? union job-padding? if so, then the auto makers shouldn't get my tax $$$. if the problem is legacy costs, then let's solve the problem - not give the auto-makers billions to keep making the same mistakes. - MikeAmundsen
they had started to turn it around, correcting many of the issues with quality and innovation. the problem Mike is the economy. - Erin Kotecki Vest

We are going to start using MS Dynamics for our Help Desk system (Nelnet, Inc. NNI) - Susan Beebe
As a former admin/developer, there really isn't much exciting to talk about - Wayne Arthurton
I kind of wish we'd look into it for our help desk. I hate Remedy (it needs a remedy), and we've already got our heads so far stuck into Outlook, Exchange and SharePoint that it might make sense. I'm no expert on these things, though, so I could be totally wrong. - MiɳiMagɘ (Sexy Scimitar)
Define your terms... Dynamic AX? GP? CRM? We use them all and, as a general rule, they are solid. To anyone contemplating CRM, consider publishing the Outlook client via 2008 Terminal Services. It will make your life much simpler. - John Denver
I think the Microsoft Across America events I attended were CRM. I am rather clueless beyond all that. - MiɳiMagɘ (Sexy Scimitar)
It is popular in India too, especially for small businesses. I know a couple of rapidly growing solution providers implementing and customizing Microsoft apps and not able to keep up with the load. - Dorai
It really does work well with Outlook and thus it makes it easier to go through the same processes. Their early versions were a big buggy when it first came out, but in the last year the program just flies and they did good with it, beats the heck out of SAP if you are already using Outlook by all means. - Barbara Duck
Speaking of SAP things must be a little tight there, working on SAP in "Second life", maybe the customers are more friendly there (grin). SAP has software that goes beyond CRM but that is a large part of it..http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... - Barbara Duck
There's a web based version as well which I have not had time to play around with yet, and I can't remember if it is out of beta yet, but I should connect it to my "Office Live" set up which is solid as a rock and works with the desktop applications very well. - Barbara Duck
Not sure why, but there are some sharp MS-platform minds on Twitter, and there are some sharp MS focused folks here of FF. I'm a mostly MS focused guy and our podcast has plenty of info on it from our collective experience with the products. I guess you just have to find them. - Eric @ CS Techcast

Except Roger forgot abot the whole "unions choking the life out of the very members they represent" part... This has nothing to do with the auto industry or the recent economic corrections. It has everything to do with corrupt leadership in the "Motor" city. - Mark VandenBerg
Mark, so you think US auto companies have been turning out quality product for the last 20 years? - Chris White
