"That sounds like a best-practice. That's what I would want any app to do -- check with me first. Maybe I want to do it, maybe I don't. That's the problem I have with what Bijan Sabet wrote. He's a VC who backs a lot of these companies. He basically says any info he has is any app's for the taking. But what if I don't see it that way. What if I, naively, put some sensitive info in my contact database. Like who to call if I get sick. Maybe I don't want everyone to have that info. I understand if he doesn't care. But I do. http://bijansabet.com/post/176... Maybe I keep passwords in those files (I don't). Maybe some people do, mistakenly thinking that it's safe as long as they don't lose the phone. All the time they're thinking that, the data is being spread all over the servers of Bijan's companies."

"Thanks for posting that out. The thing to do is to insert that sentence into the discussion thread where ever the conversation drifts over to personalities. Help things stay focused on what matters. I just did that on Mike Arrington's latest post. http://uncrunched.com/2012/02/..."

"Please post that on scobleizer.com. That's the most important post you've ever written. BTW, I don't know that there's no poison in the Tylenol when I take a couple to get rid of some aches and pains. Imagine how far we'd get if we had to keep such a close eye on everyone we do any business with."

"You're doing the same thing. I don't care about fixing the journalists and bloggers problems. I want to know what happened with the address books in the past, and what's happening with them in the future. Stay focused."

"I delete comments that are off-topic. All the time. All of these comments about your comments are off-topic. Please stop posting them. Thanks."

"Not if you have to use different browsers with the icons in different places. Having one machine with non-standard scrollbars, a Lion computer that came with it, and every other computer I use have it work the normal way, gives me no chance to catch up. In the real world people don't adjust so easy. And that's where your software (and mine) runs. Not in your mind, on people's computers. This is exactly the patrician attitude that the tech industry has 100 percent wrong."

"And the last thing I want to explain to users is Why Did They Change That? I usually just say that they're idiots but we have to do what they force us to do."

"This is what every Dilbert-like manager in Microsoft says to justify their sorry jobs. Are you imitating one or are you one for real? This is amazingly mediocre."

"What language doesn't allow you to pass the address of a function? It really is a very small feature for the language developer. An address is an address. :-)"

"Thanks David. I bought a copy of the Kindle version of the book and started reading it. Some of the ideas that I thought were unique to Frontier are in JavaScript. And there are definitely some weird things going on here that I haven't grokked yet. And they have some features I wish we had thought of like object literals (i.e. JSON)."
