"Personal Content Database" is quite apt (especially if we could have our service icons back) - When working in twitter and waiting for twitter's page to refresh a new post, it is quicker to jump to FriendFeed, because the post is there instantly.

Btw, two people have DM'd me that Scoble is best ignored. I can't do that. Being the target of repeated and consistent defamation by Robert Scoble isn't the same as Joe Blow FFer calling you an idiot. Robert's words carry a lot of weight in the tech world. I've asked Robert privately and politely to back off and as you can see, he's refused to do that. I not only have the right to defend myself, but I have a duty to my present and future investors and to my future employees.

FriendFeed's usefullness to me would increase 100% if I could automatically filter out every post with "friendfeed" in the title. That way I could get rid of the constant yapping about how great it is, and actually use it usefully.

Friendfeed consolidates most all of the other social networks into one feed and then echos it out to twitter also, for the masses. FF is a well developed web app! The bookmarklet and web widgets work very well.

"Ben Darnell, a key member of the Google Reader team, has left Mountain View to jump into startup life. Darnell bailed Google for FriendFeed, which was founded by ex-Googlers and notably in part by Kevin Fox, who used to work with him on the Google Reader team. Darnell is FriendFeed’s first hire in over a year, and will get employee badge number 13. He starts today, and according to the blog post announcing the steal, he’ll be bringing his “ninja-fu data-storage and scalability skills” to the startup."

If my 3G[s] is "Ships: Delivers by June 19th" according to #apple store order status and when I reserved I was told I "may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 06/18/2009", I wonder when I should call Apple to investigate? As far as I understand it's the full rebate for anybody who would eligible for it in July, August or September, whoever this could be. I bought my 3G on July 18th and apparently I'm eligible for an upgrade in December. This also means that iPhone 3G in general is not eligible as it was releases in July 11.

Yes, but my contract is still from my 2G. I upgraded to the 3G via a craigslist purchase and just swapping my sim. AT&T caught up to me within a month or two for the extra 3g monthly data charge, but my contract end date stated the same. Also, I made it a family plan by adding a krazor a few months ago and still no change in contract end date.

$199 (16GB) + $18 upgrade fee + $30/mo data + $5/mo 200 text messages + $11.94 tax = $228.94 one time + $35/mo recurring - I got to keep my current rate plan though, which saved me about $20/mo under what new customers get shafted with. Wow, #Apple just punted me to #AT&T... Still haven't gotten my rebate notification so I called back to customer care. They told me that they've contacted all the affected customers from a 'list' ATT gave them and my name wasn't on it... I really just almost sent my 3GS back to Apple because of this run-around... I mean honestly I sort of figured I wouldn't get the magic refund email and would have to call back... According to AT&T I was elligable for upgrade on May 2... Well, all may not be lost for me... AT&T CS is diligantly working on this case... it's been 40 min nows, but looks like I may get that refund after all. AT&T opened a special case for my issue. (that's a combined phone time of apprx 2+ hours though between Apple & AT&T to resolve the over-payment) I knew if I pestered enough it would be resolved... now I have to wait up to 72hrs for an AT&T manager to call me back.

@Brad: I'm using Facebook - But it's too personal for scattered thoughts. Sometimes strangers are better judges for random crazy ideas/or when some work related help (some technical prob). Plus I do have the twitter app repeating the tweets back in Facebook for those one or two friends who don't tweet.

I like it for what it is and if Twitter expands options that will be a good thing. This site 'Friendfeed' offers more options for expression--I like that feature also, even better, I like the cc feature to Twitter. Brad -- permit me to voice a contrarian opinion on Twitter. :) I think it is currently the world's premier news distribution system. I used to share your views on Twitter until I realized that tweets can point to documents of any type or size, including long articles, books, dissertations, movies, etc. -- one click and you are on the full document. Now I use Twitter to track the latest news from dozens of high-quality news sources. For discussions, I use Friendfeed mostly.

The lack of features is really the only thing that bugs me. I can't believe a company with as much venture capital as they have and as huge of a userbase hasn't managed to innovate.... at all. I post quick links to things from the web that I want to share, but if I have an opinion to share in the form of a longer-form response to something, I'll blog that, then usually post a link to it on Twitter. I'm new to FriendFeed and still trying to figure out how to fit it into my flow, but i like its ability to do much of what Twitter does without the 140char limit.

One of the ways in which it is awful is that you cannot have a discussion like this. Twitter is like a food you really don't like, so you just don't eat it. 140 characters limits creativity but if you can't get a point across within those limits your language skills are lacking or you are using the wrong medium to make your point. Plenty of people do get Twitter and use it creatively. If it's not for you, stay away. No-one is insisting you use it.

I don't really think the spam criticism is fair. If FriendFeed had the same amount of users as Twitter then there would be the same amount of spam. Also, if people are spamming you just unfollow them. The only real problem is the spam in the trending topics. Personally, I love Twitter and FriendFeed. I don't mind using both.

Twitter = Divas, Wanabe Divas, People on Prozak and Spammers! There are a few nice people there, but it is really hard to have a conversation! So unless you have a large following, the best way to use Twitter is to follow the peeps you are interested in, and then go to their blogs, FaceBook, etc, to talk with!

Actually it's far more useful to me the more people that are on it. But is least interesting in feeds from self appointed A listers. I avoid those and all is good.

Igor -- yes: Twitter is primarily a *broadcasting* medium, and nearly useless as a discussion medium. Friendfeed is probably the world's premier discussion medium. Friendfeed could easily match Twitter as a broadcasting medium simply by providing the option to hide all comments under a list view interface (with one click to open the discussions).

I think the market is big enough for facebook, twitter and friendfeed. Google wave will only strengthen twitter further with its extension Twave. Twitter has all the high profile people in it.. celebs, technologists, u name it.Twitter has its identity as a microblogging social network, Friendfeed has its identity as an aggregator with microbloggin features.Both hav their place. I think most will shift their base to facebook from twitter once facebook unveals the "everyone button"...

there is not many desktop and phone clients for friendfeed.. any social network is nothing without its users.. i think more the people get to know about and use twitter, there is much of a chance for them to use friendfeed.

So this may not be a very popular opinion, but I think that technology-- as a whole-- is given too much emphasis in grade school. There's a place for it, sure. But I think we're stealing opportunities from our children for independent thought and making them lazy.

Sometimes it takes a while to catch on. Friendfeed is much more interactive than the others. If yo have interesting friends they post interesting stuff. No filtering necessary. The spammers do not get followed.

It's amazing how many people still don't know about Evernote. I always laugh when I see people with all these separate apps that do voice recording, note taking etc...I am like - "Just get Evernote".

Evernote is great, i use it as a clipping tool for my CV/Portfolio, use it on Windows Mobile, and i wish i could organize the view in a different way and have a huge screen with all the notes i needed. And i think it could use a calendar. But it rocks.
