Obama's religious label shouldn't matter; his actions should - http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith...
"In the wake of his weekend rally, Glenn Beck kept up the drumbeat of criticism about President Obama's religion, calling it a "perversion" and saying that America "isn't recognizing his version of Christianity," which Beck characterized as "liberation theology." Despite critique of Obama's Christianity, a recent poll showed that nearly 20% of Americans believe falsely that the president is Muslim. Why is there so much attention on Obama's religion? Does it matter what religion the president is?" - April from Bookmarklet
Wait isn't Glenn Beck a convert to LDS? - Brian Sullivan
I don't understand why, but it always seems like it matters what a President's religious status/affiliation is. - Kenton
It has no relevance except that which people give it. Unfortunately many people seem to believe that Obama's beliefs will have a negative effect on their lives - he doesn't seem to share their beliefs so they naturally assume he won't do what they want. - Mark
Brian, yes he is. This coming from the Mormon Glenn Beck is priceless. - Chieze Okoye
Wasn't a big deal made of the fact that JFK was the first Catholic President? I wasn't around but I seem to recall seeing some history stuff about that (and Irish to boot!). - Kenton
From Wikipedia: "To address fears that the fact that he was Catholic would impact his decision-making, he famously told the Greater Houston Ministerial Association on September 12, 1960, "I am not the Catholic candidate for President. I am the Democratic Party candidate for President who also happens to be a Catholic. I do not speak for my Church on public matters — and the Church does not speak for me." - Kenton
