I may have once blocked someone into a space like that. There are rumors that he walked to my car to confront me, but turned around when I stepped out. That's all hearsay, though.

If it's a Nissan Cube, the Chevy symbol on the front license plate makes very little sense.
- Curdy G
:) that's where I took out the license plate - purely coincidentally making it look like a Chevy! I hadn't noticed until you said that.
- WoH: Minding her Botts
I think it just looks similar to the Chevy symbol. However, the sides are not angled. Trick of the shadows.
- caj needs a haircut
Oh. :) I thought it was an airbrushed Chevy symbol; but now I see it's just a blurred license plate inside of a black license plate frame. Silly me.

When I was a kid we decorated shoeboxes with tissue and doilies, cut a slot in the top and waited for the Valentines to come pouring in. I wasnt a popular kid so my box never had more than a handful, but I loved the day nonetheless...still do. Wishing you a sweet day of sunshine, friends, laughter, smiles, and joy. Happy Valentines Day!
By the time I was in elementary school (1980s), I think they required everyone to bring a Valentine for every student in the class, if they were participating at all. I used to go all out and cut out construction paper hearts to make a Valentine card for each classmate by hand with a personalized message, even for the ones I didn't like. I would at least just say "Happy Valentine's Day!" if I had nothing else nice to say. I think I got all excited because it was an opportunity to craft a bunch of stuff.
- Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
I agree Kamilah, the crafty was probably the best part for me too (also, thanks for reminding me how freakin' old I am - HAH!)

Yeah, sorry I couldn't respond to that one before. :-)

Congrats Ben! Totally agree with Jason. Our latest project wouldn't have become feasible without Ben -- I'm just so glad we managed to get a fraction of his time before he left! :)
- Simon
Congratulations, Ben! You're joining an awesome team.
- Anne Bouey
Congrats, you are now a "big company"! ;))))
- K.D.
That's not my picture! They got the picture wrong! In fact, I didn't get the letter of hire either. :( Oh, Hi there, Ben...if that's your real name. ;)
- Josh Haley
Good luck Ben! With you our preferred service will go more interesting

I think there were a bunch of spam comments made to some 2009-era posts by FF employees. For some reason even after the spam is nuked, the post stays bumped.
- Stephen Mack
Yes, I blocked a spammer that was bumping old posts about FF themes and what not.
- Zulema ⋅ spicy cocoa tart
Well, let's see this as an opportunity to raise a virtual glass to Ben and FriendFeed-that-was!
- Kevin Fox
It probably had something to do with the Tornado 2.2 release. I noticed Ben was the one who posted about the release on HN earlier. Edit: Or it could have just been a spammer. *shrugs*
- Jimminy, CoG of FF
I don't think it had anything to do with the tornado release - a spammer bumped a bunch of Bret's old posts today.
- Ben Darnell
Tamara wins as the first to wish me a Happy V-Day! +10 :-)
- Mathew A. Koeneker
I hope that ya'll have a great day with your significant others. I am thinking that I will get a nice steak to cook for myself and a juicy bone from the butcher for Jackson, the Ridgeback. #BeingSingle
- Mathew A. Koeneker
Although despite my thinking about the future, I just spent half an hour loading and reviewing reports from 10/27/2010 instead of today, so maybe I should also think about the present.
- Stephen Mack
Y'all have no idea how relieved I am to discover that I am not alone in making the association between this light fixture design and well-formed boobage! All those years of tacit guilt! I mean, as if the glass shape wasn't enough, they go and add those perfectly erect "nipple caps"... Who are you trying to kid, lighting designers?!!
- Mark J Severely Corny

Meh, I'm unimpressed. We have the Nippledome here after all.
- Lix
Thanks for the offer to take the brass as spare, will graciously pass. ;)
- Janet-The Bottley Crue
Well, I figured I'd offer after making the offending remarks vis a vis your lights. :(
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
My wife and I call these "boob lights". Sometimes even in lighting stores...

My father never knew his father. He was an only child, raised by his mother. He never knew why his father either left or was kicked out -- his mother would never tell him. In his late '50s, due to a random web page I wrote about my family, my father was discovered by his half-sister.
It turns out my grandfather had started a new family, even given his new first-born son the same name as my father. My father learned this from his newly found half-sister. He also found out that his father had passed away 10 years before.
- Stephen Mack
All his life, my father loved Jewish culture, had Jewish friends, read Jewish humor books (mostly Leo Rosten).
- Stephen Mack
My father had absolutely zero idea until he was 59 that his father was Jewish.
- Stephen Mack
His mother was Catholic. She never talked about anything Jewish at all. He found it on his own.
- Stephen Mack
I don't know much about anything, but to me there's something to the idea that a Jewish identity is a mix of culture and upbringing and also in the blood.
- Stephen Mack
That's just the crazy talkin', honey.
- Bubba Botts
Seriously, it means I can start on the other 10,000 things in life that need to be done. Not 30 seconds after I posted this m'girl texted me asking if I'd pay a bill. *sigh*
- Bubba Botts
I never did claim to be quite sane where school work was concerned. But yeah, probably better to prioritize other stuff.

Late #SaturdayFF When I was about 9 a family moved in across the street from my house. They had a 5 year old daughter. Not many kids my age lived near me (only 1 friend on the street) so on a daily basis there weren't many kids to hangout with. She eventually became a friend by default since we could both just go outside to see each other.
At first she was fun. She just joined in whatever was going on. Her mom paid me to "babysit" sometimes. In nice weather my cousin and I would do homework outside and she liked to join us.
- <3Heather<3
Eventually, she turned into a real brat. Everything would be fine and from nowhere she wouldn't want to do what we were doing. She would want everything her way. Some days she loved us and some days it was like she was trying to get us angry.
- <3Heather<3
Anytime we had a disagreement she would run to mom, who would always storm outside to yell at whoever was involved. Being 12 and being yelled at by a grown woman who is clearly in the wrong kind of flips a switch mentally. She also stole from me. It was always little and inexpensive (candy, bracelets, etc.) but she violated my trust.
- <3Heather<3
A few years ago I found out she is bipolar. This helped explain a lot of what went on, but everyone seems to want me to be friends with her again and I'm not interested. Aside from chatting with her pleasantly from time to time, I will never be friends with her again.
- <3Heather<3
I feel like this was such a big part of my life. For about 7 years I had to learn to negotiate, when to let things go (probably too often, which is why I rarely stick up for myself), to hide anger, to shut up and get yelled at (by her mom), to keep an eye on my things and know the signs that she wanted something of mine, to decipher lies, and to deal with unpleasant circumstance.
- <3Heather<3
I don't think productivity is a good measure of quality for days anyway. I hope you have a good one :)

Well, I need to get some things done so that I'm not living in a mess, which would drive me batty.
- Katy S
Plus, I would like to wear clean clothes this week. :)
- Katy S
Got the shop vac out and cleaned around the cat box. It's amazing how much cat litter they kick out. I blame Plum. She likes to take flying leaps out of the box that scatter litter.
- Katy S
Did some regular vacuuming and some dusting. Unfortunately, the little gray cat kept getting in my way. She isn't particularly scared by the vacuum cleaner.
- Katy S
A pan of baked oatmeal is in the oven for my breakfasts this week.
- Katy S
Oh great. By the sound of it, one of the cats just gave me another cleaning job to do.
- Katy S
Yep. Add cleaned up cat puke to the list of things done today. Again, I blame the gray one.
- Katy S
She has occasional bulimic moments. It's not uncommon with cats. It just seems like she brings it on herself by gorging on food and then racing around. Clearly, her kitteh-mama didn't teach her to rest for a bit after eating.
- Katy S
Katy, I have a cat who does that too and went through a really terrible spell of it recently. It required multiple vet visits and apparently nothing is wrong...he would just binge and binge and make himself sick.
- joey
Warning - TMI event: My Thea takes purging to new heights, for real. Heard the hark and splatter and was able to catch the second half in paper towels. The higher from the floor on the purge makes her most happy.
- Janet-The Bottley Crue
Yup, I had a cat who'd do the binge and purge. She has anxiety issues too, lol.
- Melly Botts
Well, I just got my third and final load of laundry started. Also, the dishwasher is loaded and ready to run after I finish my brownie. I think that's enough productivity for today.

Happy Darwin Day!! Fun fact: One of the tortoises that Darwin collected on his voyages lived to be 176 years old. She died just a few years ago, in 2006. Her name was Harriet. ~ http://biomedicalephemera.tumblr.com
peanut butter is fine (also, a legume, not a nut)
- marthalib
Yeah, we've used peanut butter a lot over the years. It's just that this dog goes nuts for it. I usually stick it in a small kong to keep her occupied.

One floor left to clean, other floors drying. Laundry (load three) going in and then I'm going to hit the garage for a bit and work on a box to store my propane tank in while all the floors get good and dry. Then, seal the floors and go find one to collapse in (my back has had it)
If you can start the day without caffeine, If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains, If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles, If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it, If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time, If you can take criticism and blame without resentment, If you can conquer tension without medical help, If you can relax without alcohol, If you can sleep without the aid of drugs, ...Then You Are Probably ......... "So first there's the problem we see. Everything starts with musicians, but with all the money around music they're the last to see any. All the musicians we know work so hard just to keep their heads above water. The whole Internet thing was supposed to make things egalitarian, but it didn't. It's mostly startups with big money and major labels making weird deals and everyone else still working so hard and keeping their heads above water. Entire companies are being built around the idea that if they can finally make the Internet work for musicians then they can get rich. Some are making things better. Some are making things worse. But they're all doing it backed by millions of dollars on the promise that they'll deliver billions later — and in their world it's consumers (fans) and product (music, more specifically music copyrights.) So what we did was build a whole lot of things that musicians can use, do it in the open where it's all totally free, and do it as a Nonprofit so Sony...

They are doing very well. $5000 already. I think once they are a full non-profit they need to hire a grant writer or PR person. Things are not very well written and they will need that going forward. But they have a lot of professional support in addition to the artists and I think they will get there without a problem.
