FriendFeed was founded by Bret Taylor, Jim Norris, Paul Buchheit and Sanjeev Singh. Bret, Jim, Paul and Sanjeev previously worked at Google, where they designed and launched many products, most notably Google Maps, the Google Maps API, Gmail and Google Groups. Since launch, FriendFeed has grown to seven people (and we're hiring).
Meet the team
Before FriendFeed, Bret was a Group Product Manager at Google, where he launched
Google Maps, the
Google Maps API, and founded
Google’s Developer product group. Bret was most recently an Entrepreneur in Residence at
Benchmark Capital, where he developed FriendFeed with Jim. Bret has an MS and BS in Computer Science from Stanford University. Bret has a slavish devotion to turkey and chicken pesto sausage sandwiches from Le Boulanger.
Jim most recently was a Software Engineer at Google for four years, where he launched
Google Maps and worked on Google's core infrastructure team. He left Google to be an Entrepreneur in Residence at
Benchmark Capital, where he and Bret developed FriendFeed. Jim has an MS and BS in Computer Science from Stanford University. Jim's most recent trip was a safari to Africa. Jim's most recent regret was losing his camera on a safari to Africa.
After getting a Computer Science degree from Case Western Reserve University, Paul worked at
Intel, and then Google. There, he was the engineer behind
Gmail. Paul is also responsible for Google's famous "Don't be evil" motto and the first
AdSense prototype. Paul got married in a tiger suit.
Sanjeev previously worked at Google on
Gmail and the
Google Search Appliance. Prior to Google, he worked at Third Voice and a government research lab. He holds a Computer Science degree from Stanford and wants to breed giant dragonflies someday.
Before FriendFeed, Ana worked on product marketing at Google for four years, leading
Gmail marketing for three years. Before Google, she was a brand consultant at
Ogilvy&Mather in Hong Kong, and prior to that, she worked on consumer marketing at
Tellme Networks. Ana has a BA in both Economics and East Asian Studies from Harvard University, but is less interested in either topic than she is in sports. Ana also takes unnecessarily dangerous vacations to places like Siberia and Iraq.
Forever oscillating between getting worked and getting schooled, Kevin webmastered for
Levi Strauss, bachelored in Cognitive Science at UC Berkeley, designed at
Yahoo, mastered in HCI at Carnegie Mellon, and most recently worked at Google, designing interfaces for
Gmail,
Google Calendar,
Reader, and other products. He also likes cheese.
