I find it difficult to figure out what the average person can't figure out about Twitter.

Actually I think @Brains! probably hit the nail on the head. If you don't have twitter constantly running in the background you probably won't understand the value.

I don't get much back from twitter it's like standing on a cliff shouting across at a bunch of people, telling them what I am doing but nothing much back and certainly no interaction.
