What will you do when Twitter is down? - Jeremiah Owyang
Why, Friendfeed of course. - Pete Barry
Yep. Home from China, bursting w/ stuff to say & Twitterville turns a worm loose. Grr. - shelisrael1
Keep hitting refresh on twitter.com.... uh, I mean Friendfeed. - David Bisset
Shel Im teaching a workshop in SF, I'll call you on drive home! - Jeremiah Owyang
So instead of a Fail Whale, what do we call this? Moan Cone? Squirm Worm? - Abbas Haider Ali
last 2 days have been bad twitter-wise - I don't even get a graphic, just 'failed to open page'..:( But I still have FF :) - WorldofHiglet
@Abbas "Moan cone" elicits entirely different images in my mind :p - Neal "thePuck" Jansons
I don't even get a graphic :( - Aram Zucker-Scharff
"Moan Cone" = wins - David Bisset
I called it fail snail, but not accurate. Someone else (Tina) called it, perfectly, CONE OF SILENCE. - Brian Carter
...or the caterpillar of doom - WorldofHiglet
Someone should totally hack twitter's "twitter is down" notices with a "why not pop over to friendfeed instead" redirect. - Slippy Lane
I have to concur with "Moan Cone." I'm following fewer people on FF so I feel like I'm stepping into a mostly empty pantry. I have my favorite cereals but no chips or hearty Chef Boy Ardee meals. - Cam
Add Identi.ca for a bit. - Helen Sventitsky
Just added to the Twitter down Art gallery: http://dembot.com/post/2519797... - Andrew Baron
Twitter down. 3 million tweeple working again. Economic indicators jump. - Mike Lizun
It's funny. I'm in FF now because of the "Moan Cone" and all i can think of is "look at all the potential people I can follow on Twitter". I need the "Betty Ford" equal to Twitter addiction. - David Bisset
No need for interventions, David! Better to follow people here and you get their tweets plus all their other lovely activity, too. YouTube, blogs, flickr, memes, songs, podcasts.....so much content..... - WorldofHiglet
so why do DB maintenance in the middle of the day? - Steve Mann via twhirl
Yea I mentioned that too -- Who does DB maint during peak hours? I doubt this was planned. - andy brudtkuhl
How do you tweet that Twitter is down when Twitter is really down? :-) - Zoli Erdos
I seriously doubt this was a "planned" maintenance as they would have posted a message well in advance... this is an UNplanned event, like most twitter outages. - Susan Beebe

Yeah, I feel lonely on FF a lot of the time, or is it just that it's sometimes hard to see what's going on around you? - Brad
Hey! - Robert Haas
Awww, I know, it can be lonely for my posts on FF too. - Aram Zucker-Scharff via twhirl
Best way to avoid this reality is, make your wife and your brother a FF user too. :) - Olcayto
It's just weird in that there is a certain ambient level of conversation and then it just jumped off a cliff. I don't *feel* like I'm doing anything different. - Dave Slusher
Same thing happened to me yesterday. Rest assured, I read everything you post. I just don't have anything to add sometimes. - Paul Reynolds
I guess it's like in a restaurant when everyone just stops talking all at the same time for no real reason. - Dave Slusher
LOL...I was actually away from computer most of the weekend for a change. - Ken Kennedy
"Talking to yourself is a sign of impending mental collapse." <- Infocom - Kreg Steppe
Or just good conversation. - todd
I find I am doing that a lot myself - andy brudtkuhl
same thing happens to me sometimes and my son is on friendfeed, you'd think at least he would feel bad for his pops and throw the me a comment ;) - mike "glemak" dunn
I'm just working 12-14 hours a day lately and can go 3-4 days without much "slack" time. - J Wynia

felix, glad it works well for you! I'll pass the feedback on to the team, but they probably read here anyway. :) - Matt Cutts
I've been trying various addresses and it works pretty well with them too though sometimes if I pause too long while saying the address the search starts too soon. - Loren Heiny

the local search aspect of this is amazing, it knows your location so you just speak the listing you are looking for and it appears on your iphone, brilliant! - Kelly Johns
agree with Kelly. I wouldn't use it for regular search queries but for local search its great. Saves opening up Maps, hitting the locate me button and then typing your query. - Jamie

I saw this at wordcamp NYC.. I dont really understand the advantage outside of hosting your video at places like blip, youtube, vimeo, etc.. the interesting thing is how it allows users to cut and remix videos out of other people's content.. but Im also unclear about protections available for those who don't want their content re-tooled outside of their initial intentions. - sedgewick

"There is no singularity that can be described as "THE Cloud." There are many clouds, they're not federated, they don't natively interoperate at the application layer and they're all mostly proprietary in their platform and operation. They're also not all "public" and most don't exchange data in any form. The notion that we're all running out to put our content and apps in some common repository on someone else's infrastructure (or will) is bullshit.
