Sean, if only I knew. This was delivered directly to me fresh and hot.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Wow, whatever you do, don't google "Asian guys at beach licking" if you want to find the Flickr account for this. No, seriously. Just...don't. o.O
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
changed my life forever...I will always go to the beach with a a few chubby buddies after porking myself up for those bosoms ~ and this image is most definitely going in the ol' spank bank
- sofarsoShawn
Remember ! I bring quality product to Friend Feed !:)
- Akiva Moskovitz
you know what would be funny: ok bear with me, if we blindfolded leather donut (you know the booby man) and...yeah fill in the blanks...something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch...
- sofarsoShawn
Sir, randomly linking to your FriendFeed from one of my posts is oh wait you'll never see this because you're blocked for spamming. Thanks anyway, kaghazrangy.
- Akiva Moskovitz
damn this picture just won't go away - you have forced me to hide it
- William Harryman
Akiva, wasn't that pic taken at your last BBQ?
- Paul
Every time I see this picture I smile. Their joy is infectious, like herpes.
- Sparky
Paul, I surely do wish I had a beach in my back yard!
- Akiva Moskovitz
Sparky, I'm going to have this blown up to poster-size and attaching it to the ceiling above our bed. That'll cause some infections!
- Akiva Moskovitz
makes me want to grow a rack and diddle with my own, know what I'm saying?
- sofarsoShawn
this. . . .this. . . ugh . . . so fucking wrong.
- Peter Ghosh
Akiva - you can put anything you want above our bed.
- Sparky
i've been trying to formulate a comment for this for days, but i just...can't.
- joey
I still want to know the motivation here. is this a gay marriage argument? or are we already pushing group social contracts on friendfeed?
- Noah David Simon
oh man this one keeps popping up on ma friendfeed,....must spread virus nao
- Chris Hofmann
I'm surprised no one's noticed old boy's red-framed glasses.
- Akiva Moskovitz
oh right... the glasses are so important when three asian men are licking his nipples and all the comments are by people who think gay marriage has something to do with equality... when it has everything to do with taking protections away from children. the red glass glasses.... um yeah. chicken and Oklahoma with milk
- Noah David Simon
Mark, you have uncovered the dark underbelly of humanity except in this case it isn't dark but is rather a pasty hue somewhere in the vicinity of undercooked flan.
- Akiva Moskovitz
This should be in the default noobie FF stream. Like the first thing anyone who signs up sees. If they stick around they're part of the family.
- Internet's Tad
Perhaps this can replace the kitty pic on the start page for non-members!
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
I'm certain prop8 had nothing to do with Swine Flu
- Noah David Simon
I'm thinking that eventually, it will have been hidden by every user on FriendFeed. It'll be the most hidden post in FriendFeed history.

Herpes (and this): the gifts that keep on giving.
- Sparky
I wonder if the FriendFeed guys see this and say to themselves, 'Well, this isn't exactly what we had in mind when we started started FriendFeed.'

I look at it and think, "Not again."
- Steven Perez

Just about the time you FF is getting some class .. Oh well we is what we is.
- Brent Smorgen Bleg
I can't believe after all this time some diligent FF'er hasn't dug up the identities (I said "titties") of this bunch and invited them to join the service that made them famous. Mitchell Tsai, get to work!
- Sprague D
i think if you unlike and delete all your comments anna it'll go away, but hide in general would be nice too (this photo makes me smile every time it pops up so don't mind it)...
- mike "glemak" dunn
*sigh* This is never going away, is it? It's gonna end up like James Bond movies and Swedish meatballs - always existing in the same form. never diminshing, never forgotten. :( :( :(
- Steven Perez
from IM
It will go away, to be replaced with photoshops of the original. It's all part of the meme lifecycle.
- Sparky
I am too new on friendfeed to know anything about record comments.. I love gmail tho, puts all the comments in one threaded email and I can delete them all later in one shot or not if I choose..
- David Gross
from email
well we should aim to beat the record.. i mean jeez there are tons of things that could be said about this.. like.. does it taste like chicken?
- ed fry
I'm gonna have nightmares now. thanks ed. ;)
- Alejandro
ok, in Japanese: "an, an, soko dame!"
- Rick Cogley
You can't close this thread. A lot of people say that this place is a Scoble-fest but, truly, it is this thread that is at the very heart of FriendFeed.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I'm officially going to proclaim that this is the FF equivalent of Goatse or FFoatse if you will. Lets all refer to it as that from this point forward.
- Mark Krynsky
Sparky has left 57 comments. The rest of you are slacking. Hop to it!
- Christopher Harley
Chrisitan just walked by and said "It's too early in the morning for Japanese titty licking." It's NEVER too early for Japanese titty licking.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
THIS is the first thing I see here this morning?
- l0ckergn0me
Chris, you just woke up? C'mon, man! It's 10:30!
- Akiva Moskovitz
I knew he would break eventually - it's fitting that it's on this thread *now to find out how to hide a thread once you've commented....*
- WorldofHiglet
As much as I am loathe to bump this post, I have to do it to say, You, sir, are a master. Well played, sir. Well played. This is why I take every opportunity to say, in my next life, I want to be Akiva. I've already called it! Don't anybody go getting any more ideas.
- ♥patricia♥
I, for one, refuse to "bump" posts...it's very unseemly...
- Live4Emma (L4S)
I wish FF-search allowed to do GROUP BY -aggregations so I could COUNT(*) who are the biggest *bump*ers. :)
- Jemm
Makes me laugh everytime I see it. Such a happy yet silly scene by the sea.
- Toby Graham
There is nothing silly about it. This is serious business.
- Sparky
The more I see this, the more I like it. Not for the ironic nipple-licking, but because these kids are genuinely enjoying themselves. :) Carry on.
- felicious
This photo looks so much better in iPhone 3.0!#!~
- Akiva Moskovitz
Seriously dude. What do I have to do to get rid of this disgusting picture!? Doh! Now I've just pushed it back to the top... yuck, I'm so sickened.

I love this image, because I have no clue why it's happening. Randomness FTW!!

Can't believe I never hit 'like' on this! Consider the situation rectumfied.
- Bec Rowe @d0tski
Oops! I hope I didn't just bump this up again... ;-)
- Sprague D
It's just so refreshing to see genuine juvenile humour at work. These kids are no different from any other, I think it's a great happy image, given all the other shite happening in this world on a daily basis. For those that are too pompous and prudish, 'up yours with brass knobs'
- ImJustCreative
Wow. 666. Nice! Actually, the reason Asashoryu is getting a divorce ( http://ff.im/4T0UA ), is because he wants to spend time with this lot.
- Rick Cogley
To this day, the pic still comes back. Just like Herpes. :D
- Danny Minick
Although unlike herpes this photo is fun to share with friends.

I just use this image as a way to announce crap. no one really pays attention to my feed... except my enemies. so when I have something important to say I tell the Asian Titty lickers. it is my strong belief that this thread needs it's very own domain name. something like http://xrl.us/TittyLickers
- Noah David Simon
You know, every time this pops up, since FF hides the middle of the comments of which there are 804 or so, I see Akiva say "I'm sorry." at the top. It makes me wonder about how some things are just not possible to apologize for!

the thing that strikes me about this (aside from the obvious) is after seeing this thing pop up like 35-40 times since March its just occurred to me that I don't have any (guy) friends that a) would lick my nipples b) would lick my nipples for a photograph. Maybe I should get out more...
- J. Abdul-Qahhar
I'm a little scared that I've this has gotten more than 800 comments and almost 200 likes over nearly five months and I still haven't clicked "Hide."
- Scott of Two Countries
It's just a bit of fun. I mean watching how many comment, not the picture content (although I suspect that is all that was too!)
- Ian May
Allright, you guys ready to shoot "mirth and girth"?
- Rick Cogley
For the life of me, I'll never understand the emotion people have around this picture for or against. There's no nudity at all, not even implied nudity. Less dude nudity than a beer commercial or cigarette ad, yet there are people who really really really hate this picture.
- Matthew DeVries
I found a way to get a Tit Theme, and it involves this picture.
- Jimminy

I just had to bump this once more... gives me a whole new excuse to go look at Phoebe again!
- Mark Jepsen
Hmmm, where do you think they're from? My guess is Japan...
- sofarsoShawn
The bumping algorithm includes things like novel people posting to it, in addition to thread age, and rapidity of comments. If the same 3 people are talking in a thread, it quits bumping because it's obviously a closed tea party.
- Matthew DeVries
I forgot, also you're a very handsome guy(saw the wedding images), I don't understand why you don't like to share your face. Rochelle is a lucky lady.
- Jimminy
Jimminy, it's an irrational phobia. No different than people who are afraid of heights, spiders, clowns, or Canada.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Akiva, now I'm LMAO at the fear of Canada. People are actually afraid of Canada, or just the fact they don't know if they're British or French?
- Jimminy
I don't think even Canadians know that difference.
- Akiva Moskovitz

On Fark, there was this one thread, that just kept growing and growing. On Fark, it was a single page per thread. And you could post images and gif inline. Well the thread wouldn't die, people just kept posting. I forget which one it was. Anyway, it got so monsterous, that few people going to read/post to it per day (which was only a handfull) accounted for 1/3 of the server load of the site. They eventually had to cull that thread.
- Matthew DeVries
I think everyone who has participated in this thread has 'culled' themselves privately.

What with all the copycat images this has inspired I hope our muse continues to stick around and not get lost in the shuffle of so many knockoffs.

- Johnny Worthington
Oh I have you in another list Johnny: Crossdressing Australians of FF.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Aww, I hope I'm not offending anyone by not including them on the list. Many times I just go by the avatar and if it's a cartoon or something it's hard to tell and I won't put on here, and also these are just *my* personal tastes. Everyone has different types!
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Any woman with the brass to be on FF is a hottie in my book.
- Chris Baskind
Wow - that'd be a drag to be on a list like that. Still, as I always say, if you want to get a lot of followers get a hot chick avatar. It's sad but it's iJustine. True! I mean true. It's sad but it's true.
- Ciaoenrico
Ciaoenrico I kinda take offense to that. My avatar is me, it's my face and I shared it on FF after a LOT of thought about it (plus some gender confusion, but that's another story). Because a woman might be considered attractive she *shouldn't* user her face as an avatar otherwise she's just trying to get followers? Bull crap, and sexist to boot.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Agreed, Tina. That certainly wasn't the point of this list - it was merely a way to point out all of my FF crushes at once. I hope no one takes offense to it. :(
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I'm offended....I wasn't on this effing list!!
- jamar78
Sean, I'm not offended, personally. I find it rather amusing. The title of this post, to me, however, seemed rather "definitive". YMMV. :D
- Helen Sventitsky
I think I'm due for a new picture. I've used the same one since joining.
- Rochelle
Rochelle, you had that other one, the B&W one of you smiling. That was great, too
- Josh Haley
Quite a collection. There should be a male list too but then that could lead to a match-making game and apps being developed and other memes ... and ... oh dear ...
- Amani
Dammit.. I'm about to delete this post. It was not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings. :(
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I don't think it's a problem pointing out your crushes, hun. I think it's the fact that it's titled "The Hotties of FriendFeed" that can make people kind of uncomfy. That comes across as a direct judgment of peoples' looks, even though we know you didn't mean it that way.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
@Sean don't ever apologize for your actions.
- Shevonne
Okay, I think I understand.. Thanks Amanda.. I just updated the title, hopefully it will let everyone know that this is my own personal list, and by no means a judgement of anyone.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
It's not my scene, but hey...whatevs. It just feels a little meat market-ish to me. People aren't avatars, and I know a couple on the list who wouldn't be proud of being reduced to a FF hottie on someone's list.
- Derrick
Derrick - But a lot of the stuff you post to the really gay room is pretty meat market-ish. Just because they're professional models it's okay to objectify them? We naturally objectify each other because we naturally are sexual creatures. I'm not offended by being on this list, but I don't like being objectified and I think what Haggis has done is a sweet gesture, not a gesture of blind testosterone rubbing one out.
- Mattie Kenny
Didn't anyone see me grab the popcorn earlier? That's your 1st clue.
- Josh Haley
Sean you created a monster didn't you....hehe
- jamar78
Ugh.. no kidding.. I guarantee this list will never be mentioned again outside of these posts. I think i'm gonna unplug for a while and let this all die down.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
ok i just now read the whole thread damnit i always miss everything lol joel... ::shakes head:: u kno to some i'm not a lil sister lol ur so funny i luv u!
- Cardeen Martinez
don't let it get to you Sean....all that matters is that you had no malicious intent which you didn't
- jamar78
**blushes** - gee thanks. :) And go hide for a while, Sean... it'll all blow over.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
nice list, i have about half of these in a group called "sexy people"
- sean percival
Mattie, any pics I post in the Really Gay Room are A) *in* the Really Gay Room, and B) pictures culled from sites that are meat-marketish to begin with. I would never post pics of Scoble or Louis Gray and say, "oh these are guys I'd like to see naked". And I'm not knocking Sean. I freakin' love Sean. But I also know that there are women on the list who've worked hard at getting to where they are in life and in their careers and to be thought of as a pin-up on FF isn't their bag.
- Derrick
It's about time you chimed in Leather...LMAO...love it...haha
- jamar78
I don't see how posting this in a room would make it any different a situation, Derrick. I don't think that Sean ever said he wanted to see any of the women on the list naked. Is that something I skipped over while scanning the comments? If he said that, then yes. This list is pretty lame. But being admired for your beauty isn't bad. Especially since (for me at least) being a hottie entails being incredibly intelligent and engaging.
- Mattie Kenny
Mattie, that's exactly what I consider a hottie. Attractiveness is only part of the factor. Intelligence, a sense of humor, and many other things go into that equation.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
+100 Mattie -- There's always a fine line of taste when these things come into play. These are our normal avatar pics, not semi-nude pics, not anything gratuitous. That's what i think keeps it on the good side of the line. It's really just an innocent list.
- Lindsey is Fierce!
Mattie, I'm not going to fight with you over this. If you want to split ends, say I'm a hypocrite, or engage in double standards, feel free. I don't care. Very simply, I know people who don't want to be referred to as hotties. By anyone. I see them on the list. I speak up. That's it. There are 50 people in the RGR, maybe 20 people see it regularly. That's a HUGE difference than the numbers of people who sub to the home feed. But you know what? Forget I even opened my mouth. Apparently I've become a prude...
- Derrick
That's not what I'm saying, Derrick. Now I understand what you meant by putting the photos up in the RGR versus what Haggis did. Did these women speak up for themselves and say they don't appreciate being called attractive?
- Mattie Kenny
<3 Derrick.. I appreciate what you are saying, and think it's very commendable that you are seeing this from an angle I didn't really see. I know you only have the best intentions with what you are saying. Please no more fighting over this..
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I just happen to know them, Mattie. And I didn't say they didn't appreciate being called attractive. I said they, knowing them as I do, woudn't appreciate being culled up on a list and pointed out for the world to ogle.
- Derrick
Sean, you know how I feel about you bud, and I'm not putting you on blast. Consider my hands washed of it.
- Derrick
Mattie, how about you look at it from the flip side...those women who DIDN'T make the list and don't have the benefit of feeling all bubbly inside because they've been deemed "attractive"? It's all well and good when you're on the winning team, apparently.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
yeah Sean you are a good person....don't beat yourself up about it
- jamar78
Although you better take my sis' out this damn list!! hehe
- jamar78
Amanda - I don't think not being on the list deems you unattractive and I don't think Haggis is the be all end all of who is or is not attractive. Wow. I'm on the list. BFD. I don't feel or bubbly inside, nor did I take it very seriously. It didn't blip in my radar until I saw people taking major offense to Haggis having posted the list, in which case I looked at it & was surprised to see myself there. I'm not on any "team".
- Mattie Kenny
Haggis, I love the conversations you spawn... feel free to include me in future provocative topics. ~xxxooo~
- Far
I would like to state for the record, should there be a men's list...I would like to opt out. That is all, thank you.
- Christian (Simply X)
Ok gents, let's show the ladies how we roll. (and can someone email me that info ahead of time, so I look like I know what I'm doing?)
- Morgan Haley
Oh too funny. Thanks for including me, Sean. ;-)
- Jennifer Leggio
And the winner for best line from this entire thread..."The picture is too small to see. Am I on it?"...@Martha. thank YOU! I am now cleaning cola off of my keyboard.
- .LAG liked that
How did you manage to limit yourself to only 53?
- j1m
Ok my cat is really pist off...didn't make the cut...gees! LOL
- Susan Beebe
This list is approved, mainly because one certain hottie is the better half :) Sean, not only do you represent a great product, but also exceptional taste. Sir, I owe you a drink! ;)
- Matt Harwood
I'm amazed that neither Lisa Bettany nor Sarah Lacy are showing up in any of these clique building seminar visual aides.
- Matthew DeVries
Ok I am not the brightest crayon in the box so I want to know how the hell do you see a list of people like that. I have different lists but where do I go to see all in just that one list?
- Brandy Lea
Brandy, you see this view when you go into one of your lists then select to Add/Remove friends.
- Kol Tregaskes
I think what Brandy is asking is if she can see someone else's list, which we can't. Haggis might have made a list that is friendfeed.com/list/hotties and he'll see it when he's logged in, but no one else would see it if they went to that same URL. He wouldn't even see it if he logged out and went to that URL.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I don't think I was subscribed to you when I made this list, Jeunelle. This is almost a year old! :D
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Don't misunderstand what I mean. I mean I am thankful I didn't make the list period. PRAISE THE LORD :)
- Jeunelle Foster
We should have an Academy Award of FriendFeed or something. That I would have a long ass speech prepared telling everybody how I'd like to thank all the little people who were responsible for me winning that award and it should be sponsored by Mashable and FFundercats :)
- Jeunelle Foster
How the FF did I miss this thread? Jan 27th??? Thank you! That's a huge compliment. And since it's so old, it's a fun time capsule too.
- Ginger Makela Riker
Video: Screenjelly: A new, easy way to share what’s on your screen. http://www.building43.com/videos... (Lots of vids coming, had a backlog built up!).
Developers: If you find yourself contemplating the implementation of custom scroll bars for any reason whatsoever, please take a cold shower instead. Thank you.
1. SAP. No keyboard control, unintuitive response rate. 2. Google Wave. Ditto, plus buggy behavior as well. 3. Some random Flash site where the scroll bar tab didn't even move when you scrolled down.
- Stephen Mack
I can't think of any site or app where novel scroll bar design was anything other than a misfeature. The native UI has ~seven scroll bar behaviors, and custom designs always forget at least one of them. Trust me, users will NOT appreciate the creativity of your design.
- Stephen Mack
Reminds me of those OMG EXTREEEEEEEEEME overclocking and system monitoring tools that came with some motherboards that had all kinds of Doom/Quake-like crap flying out of the entirely customized window. It looked goofy and dumb.
- Akiva Moskovitz
OMG Wave's scrollbars are teh sux0r. I detest Google's scrollbars in general, but these make me think they hate people.
- Captain Bubbles
The Google Wave one especially makes NO SENSE.
- joey
Akiva, I bet those apps were outsourced and the developers charged by the line. Anika, Joey: Agreed -- Google Wave's scroll bars seem to exist solely to make you appreciate the native scrollbars so much more. Who spent the time implementing that real-time shadow? Was there nothing more productive for that developer to do instead?
- Stephen Mack
amen to that! don't break standard browser controls!!!!
- .LAG liked that
Pretty much applies to all default controls of the operating systems...
- Jemm
Full disclosure: I work at Google, but not on Wave. I'm usually completely on board with the idea that we should leave native scrollbars alone, but before you assume that they were reimplemented just for fun, consider the problem they're trying to solve: Native scrollbars do not handle arbitrarily long scrollable areas well. Take a gigantic document and drag a native scrollbar one...

- Joel Webber
I have yet to see a good reason for a custom scrollbar. I especially hate Adobe's custom scrollbars in web apps, for the reasons cited above.
- Brian Johns
Stephen, apparently that was more important than allowing users to remove themselves from a wave or delete a wave ;)
- joey
Luckily you can remove yourself from Google Wave by simply not using it. Google Wave is basically a research project, just like demos at SIGCHI. Don't confuse it with a real product. (Yes, it is possible to use it for communication, but you could also use the two paper cups with string attached my cousins made last week)
- Cristo
I fully admit that Wave has a lot of details that remain to be ironed out, but it's completely unreasonable to call it "not a real product". I use it in my day to day work very heavily, and couldn't survive without it. Our team is highly distributed, and Wave has really helped us keep long complex discussions from turning into email clusterfscks. Which they usually did in the past.
- Joel Webber
Cristo, your cousins sure are innovative ;)
- joey
Joel, I'm quite certain that you could survive without it. Highly distributed teams have been rumored to exist for years before Google Wave was even conceived.
- Cristo
Thanks, Cristo. I really needed an extra dose of pedantry today. I'm absolutely certain you're right to suggest that the problems of distributed teams are perfectly solved, so no new tool could possibly improve the situation. I and my team must be hallucinating to think it's helping us at all.
- Joel Webber
Joel, I think Cristo was pointing out that your use of the phrase "couldn't survive without it" may be a touch hyperbolic. :) You may not be as productive, but he is arguing that you would still exist as a team of living beings.
- Stephen Mack
Joel, thanks for providing the rationale behind why Wave is reimplementing scrollbars. My main concerns are: 1. I'm used to being able to use the arrow keys to scroll. But when in a wave but not editing, the arrow keys do nothing. Same for Home and End. (Fortunately Page Up and Page Down do work, but that's not enough.) 2. The scroll widget is always the same size, so you can't tell how...

- Stephen Mack
I don't think anyone would complain if the scroll bars were replaced with something better. From what I've seen, this is not better.
- pitlord
If it's any consolation, negative reaction to the scroll bars in Google Wave have distracted everyone from how much they dislike Flash custom scroll bars. (I just typo'd that as "scroll barfs." How fitting.)
- Stephen Mack
@Stephen: 1. The arrow keys here is that they (along with home/end) are used to move among blips, which one could argue is the closest corollary to the "line by line" one would normally associate with up/down arrow keys. 2. When you're dragging, the shadow is the proportional part, rather than the widget itself. This avoids the problem in traditional scroll bars, where the...

- Joel Webber
BTW, please don't assume I mean to be the great defender of all that is perfect about Wave's scrollbars. I only intend to help explain what I perceive as a legitimate problem they're trying to solve. I'm certain they're a lot that still needs be tweaked about them.
- Joel Webber
Joel, thanks for the explanations. For 1, you're right, arrow keys are working for me now. (I had trouble previously.) So that's great. For 2, I don't see that at all -- the height of the shadow grows/shrinks seemingly based on velocity and then achieves a maximum height, but as far as I can tell unrelated to what's visible on the screen. 3. I would never have guessed that, but sorry,...

Who is this Scobleizer that you speak of? Is he of the Tech Geek Clan? ;-P
- Mathew A. Koeneker
Hmm...not surprisingly, I don't see Google Wave written anywhere :)
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
My Macbook is a lot like that. Various stickers and Chris Pirillo's face. ROFL (The Cool Chris blue logo)
- Danny Minick
both you guys work really hard, what's your uptime 99.9% ? it is mind boggling how both of you gray and scoble process so much data in such little times and then produce those blog posts, opinions, videos...now days louis/scoble can be found hanging to their iPhones when not in front of their computers, computers are having a bad time working with these guys...computers must be cursing them to make them work so hard
- ffcode
FFCode, uptime exceeds 100% because multiple devices are involved. :)
- Louis Gray
The rust FW stickers amuse me - that's the FirstWorld Pharma logo http://twitter.com/fwpharma unless there is another company with an identical logo >.<
- Sally Church
Sally: I'm surprised that anyone looking at this photo wouldn't recognize one of Adobe's "elemental" logos, if not the particular app it represents. Also, it looks quite different from the one you linked to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...
- Bill Jackson
yup but bill see the color it isn't dark grey, but you are right it isn't what sally said for W is smaller than F, and in fwpharma they are of same size and it miht not be FireWorks logo too.
- ffcode
Tech reporters should need to do their homework before writing headlines like this: http://mashable.com/2009... this is the worst article I've ever seen Mashable write.
- Robert Scoble
Mashable should pull that article and do a better job of editing before they publish.
- Hugh Briss
Hugh: my problem is 70% with the headline, but 30% with the lack of effort to understanding FriendFeed.
- Robert Scoble
Robert, i know you are not the biggest Wave fan yet, but have you tried looking into the public waves? Just add: public@a.gwave.com as a contact, then define a search for example "with:public@a.gwave.com" and you get the full stream. We have a fun discussion over at Hacker News: http://www.victusspiritus.com/2009... I guess you probably know about it already :)
- Bastian
Yes, Public Waves are interesting. But far too geeky. If Mashable writers complain they don't get FriendFeed well, then, they have no hope of getting Google Wave.
- Robert Scoble
If your going to compare something to something else at least try and give me a grid or something to show the features differences. Cnet's prize fights or Louis Gray's excellent article on twitter clients http://blog.louisgray.com/2009... are examples of how it should be done.
- Luke Kilpatrick
totally agree, the problem with Cliqset is that they will now be always labelled as a friendfeed clone.. people should move away from putting a clone stamp on services and let them be their own value.
- Jaap Willem
RT @Christina Warren: Oh FriendFeed Mafia. Calling people who don't get your service dumb is a real way to win friends and influence people
- Wins Fern
Wins: another inaccuracy. No one ever called her "dumb." I called her article the worst Mashable has ever written. But they are not the same thing.
- Robert Scoble
I bet it would be pretty easy to find worse Mashable articles. Given the site's longevity and frequency of publishing, they are no doubt out there. But it would make sense that if you were set up to present a case as an authority figure/journalist, you would have a good idea of the services being compared, and that's not the case here.
- Louis Gray
BTW, thanks Luke. I didn't see your link until now, but I agree! :)
- Louis Gray
Louis: y ou are probably right but this is one I know a bit about so can be authoritative on pointing it out. I don't remember anything with a more incorrect headline on Mashable, though.
- Robert Scoble
We got a phone book a couple of weeks ago. My 6 yo asked what it was. I showed her and explained it all. She then rolled her eyes, sighed and said all world-weary, "Why can't you just Google it?"
- Captain Bubbles
haha! I used my phonebook last week to start the charcoal for my smoker :-)
- andy brudtkuhl
But Roberto, if you promise to do it for cheap, they will recognize you doubt your true value. I want to save the company money and still show I can bring worth. :)
- Louis Gray
True, to a point. Thats why bankers bonuses are so high.
- Roberto Bonini
So that's how people afford Silicon Valley :-)
- Jesse Stay
Today is probably the day when I pass 50,000 followers on FriendFeed. A mind-blowing number if you consider it includes almost no spammers or celebrities.
Congratulations-I completely agree with ffcode, FF weighs more than Twitter in my opinion....unless you're going for mass, huge numbers......
- Harold Cabezas
agree with rob michael...and whats I in IRL, marcel
- ffcode
Nice :) Curious though, if you could graph subscribers over time, would you say that the most recent 5,000 has been one of the slower periods of growth?
- Andy Bold
Robert Scoble for Mayor of FriendFeed.
- Thomas Hawk
I haven't been on friendfeed much really since the facebook announcement but it is nice to have something to fall back on when my beloved twitter is out.
- Lise
You just followed me. I'm not following you yet.. Will do so if you accept my invite on Facebook that I sent to you a few years ago..
- #alaskareport
Johnny: I deleted about 10,000 Facebook invites and accept very few new ones, sorry.
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
Robert: On FriendFeed, we're all celebrities! And spammers. :)
- Steve Lynch
from twhirl
@ffcode - hmm, who exactly is dave "hudson"?
- Dave Hodson
Congrats. Yeah, I haven't noticed much abuse on FriendFeed; but then again it's hardly used by the mainstream.
- Joe Manna
Joe, what's not mainstream about 50,000 people?
- Louis Gray
No problem. I just sent you another Facebook invite via Facebook Mail. Just now.. If not accepted then you're pulled from the contact list.. Do you need a Google Wave invite? I have 4 left.. tick tick tick.. ;-)
- #alaskareport
what does that mean? i mean what good are you getting from those 50K followers? how many of them don't provide content back to you?
- Jonathan Jesse
Basically I just open FriendFeed from time to time to see what Scoble's followers are writing (I loved the "castle" discussion)
- Michael Slattery
& you know, my sub counts for like 10,000 of those :o) congrats big guy!
- sofarsoShawn
congratulations, got any tips for the rest of us? how long have you been on friendfeed for? twitter(at)locspoc
- Loc
Do you feel any pressure Robert? Does having such a huge number of followers bring more responsibility and quality of the content stress for you?
- Ozkan Altuner
