“There is no specific London style.” At least that’s what the ‘Super Contemporary’ show at London’s Design Museum proclaims. During an exploration of London’s art and design scene in September 2009, what did emerge was a city with a unique sense of its own personality and history, a fertile hub of international thinkers, and a community working towards a future that is designed to be interactive, environmentally responsible, and prosperous. Here is a look at the visual personality of London, based on visits to the city’s major art museums, attendance at the 2009 London Design Festival, and interviews with artists and designers who call the great city home."

"Archan Nair (alias archanN on the web) is an exceptional 26 year old designer, illustrator and digital artist. He is currently based in New Delhi, India. As you scroll through his art, keep in mind his goal of creating works was inspired by various phases or moments of life. Archan comes from a different industry than most graphic designers: Fashion. He started developing digital artwork in 2006 by editing simple wallpapers, and his hunger for learning more about the world of design hasn’t ceased since. His skills have been sought out by companies such as Pepsi Co., Microsoft, Tiger Beer, Boss and more. We’ve gone through many of his sites and have selected some of his best works for your inspiration."

A series of images which constitute a visual diary -mostly my paintings but also other images from my life to give context to my work. I do my best to amuse and challenge myself. If you find anything in my photostream that strikes you in anyway I hope you will share your thoughts. I have forced myself to contradict myself in order to avoid conforming to my own taste. -Marcel Duchamp Don't believe everything you think. "Siggi Eggertsson mastered the idea of ‘graphic illustration’ very early on in his career and it’s his acute interest in the gap between illustration and graphic design that has held him in good steed ever since. One of the best examples of the way Siggi investigates the act of image making can be seen is his ‘En Plein Air’ series of images. In these images Siggi set himself the brief to attempt to replicate Impressionist painters from the 1860s using his computer instead of a palette and canvas. His illustrative experiments in creating typefaces and letterforms have yielded similarly intriguing results. Currently represented by influential creative agency Big Active, Siggi now divides his time between his personal and commercial work. Commercial clients have included Coca Cola, H&M and Zune and publications such as Dwell, Little White Lies, The New York Times and Wired. Recently he has started accepting invitations to go lecture at various events which he does in his typically unique and inventive style. — [vanillusaft.com]"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... Felice Varini is a Swiss artist who was nominated for the 2000/2001 Marcel Duchamp Prize, known for his geometric perspective-localized paintings of rooms and other spaces, using projector-stencil techniques. According to mathematics professor and art critic Joël Koskas, "A work of Varini is an anti-Mona Lisa." Felice paints on architectural and urban spaces, such as buildings, walls and streets. The paintings are characterized by one vantage point from which the viewer can see the complete painting (usually a simple geometric shape such as circle, square, line), while from other view points the viewer will see ‘broken’ fragmented shapes. Felice argues that the work exists as a whole - with its complete shape as well as the fragments. “My concern,” he says “is what happens outside the vantage point of view.” He was born in 1952 in Locarno, Switzerland and lives in Paris.

About the work: http://www.joannemattera.com/pages... "Two concerns have engaged me throughout my career: color and geometric order. The grid is the underpinning of these concerns. Within its rigor I organize repeated elements—usually a stripe or square—painting them with a succulent brush that is at odds with the reductivism of the composition. I have long referred to my work as lush minimalism, a term that’s as tongue in cheek as it is true. The saturated color I use, influenced by Siennese paintings and Indian miniatures, is nevertheless of its own time. A 21st-century palette embodies different intensities, transparencies and chromatic relationships. The encaustic paint I use for much of my work brings a differently refractive quality to the color than other mediums, as well as optical depth and substantive texture. I work in series, often on a small scale, because my chromatic concerns—subtle shifts in hue, texture and depth—require intimate viewing. I often install these...

"Checking in with NASA's Cassini spacecraft, our current emissary to Saturn, some 1.5 billion kilometers (932 million miles) distant from Earth, we find it recently gathering images of the Saturnian system at equinox. During the equinox, the sunlight casts long shadows across Saturn's rings, highlighting previously known phenomena and revealing a few never-before seen images. Cassini continues to orbit Saturn, part of its extended Equinox Mission, funded through through September 2010. A proposal for a further extension is under consideration, one that would keep Cassini in orbit until 2017, ending with a spectacular series of orbits inside the rings followed by a suicide plunge into Saturn on Sept. 15, 2017.
