Not surprised, Nicholas. They shrank her butt and stuff. You like the first one probably in part because she's more normal and natural looking. This is annoying. Having to hold myself back from launching into a predictable feminist rant. - Kamilah Gill
“I'm a web developer and I'm using Windows XP for 99% of my work. I am fairly familiar with OSX. How long should I expect after I switch before i'm just as productive/fast with my Mac as I was with my PC?”
it took me just 2 weeks this june, very low osx experience before. - Yunus Tunak
Depends on your tools and if you're more of a goal-intensive person rather than task-intensive. Not sure how else to explain this but let's just say if you understand what you want to end up with as the end-goal, discovering how to get it done on a new platform is just a small hurdle. That being said, more often than not my ex-Windows-using friends are in Mac bliss. Enjoy the Mac's built-in Apache/PHP/SSH/Subversion - Glenn Batuyong
tough to answer because i don't know how "into" you are with xp...but yeah 2-3 weeks to get comfortable. Then gradually over the next year you'll learn loads and enjoy it - Zee. Just Zee.
My main tools are Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Browsers, etc. I imagine I'll have to get justed to the OS interface and a few new apps since my main apps shouldn't be changing. Of course, my next question will be what tools on the Mac should I look into first coming from XP (BBEdit instead of Dreamweaver?) - David Bisset
"Yep, I've been using (and loving) TwitterSpy since Gillmor etc started
preaching its gospel. Good stuff and thank you so much for the development
on that. It is frustrating to put it up against something like IdentiSpy
where you actually see little-to-no latency (normally), so it is a little
depressing.
I'm tracking about 20 terms using TwitterSpy and it's much more of a crisp
and clean experience than Summize etc.
Keep up the great work and thanks for stopping by!" - Sam Harrelson

Appearing to cave to Hollywood demands, Apple has quietly added a restrictive copyright protection mechanism to its new MacBooks that is preventing customers from watching movies on external displays.
Apple has secretly included a copy protection scheme called High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) in the external display ports on the latest models of it MacBooks, released in the middle of October. - Andre

but what's the point since there is no Blu-Ray drive on the MacBook ? Where will the HDCP content come from ? Or is there some downloadable HD content protected with HDCP ? - Antoine Bertier
so apple is dictating where you can view a movie now? you can't watch it on a large display in your own home? ha ha. i like apple, but they've become everything they've purported not to be (ie - another microsoft) in the past, if not worse. but seriously, who gets their music & movies off itunes anyway? people really do that? - Cee Bee
indication that Apple TV may move out of "hobby" status in 2009? - Jon Price
Yeah, what about that open letter from Steve Jobs a while back? The one that insisted how much he hates DRM. This is something of a different ballpark - being able to decide which hardware is "secure" enough to output video to. - flammable
I'm sure it's also partially due to the fact that the itunes store is a huge revenue stream for Apple & not just caving to Hollywood demands - sofarsoshawn
oh dear. apple, was that really necessary? - denise

pretty sure you could make these yourself for way less money with just a few minutes of Photoshop'ing and a trip to a local print shop. rounded corners even! I dare you... - Jon Price
