TitanPad is essentially a clone of the original EtherPad. With TitanPad anyone can instantly create a collaborative document. You do not have to create an account to use TitanPad, in fact creating an account isn't even an option. To get started just click "create public pad," enter your name, and start typing. To invite people to collaborate, just share the url assigned to your TitanPad. Every collaborator on TitanPad is given a unique color to highlight the text they've added.

The super talented and attractive Anthony Mattox discovered this wonderful table of CSS color names you can use in your stylesheet! Some of these are freakin’ ridiculous. I knew you could use “Black” and “Red” and what not in CSS, but I never would have guessed that “MediumSpringGreen” or, Anthony’s favorite, “PapayaWhip” would work. I think “Peru” is the best; what’s your favorite?

If you purchased items from the iTunes Store and the only place you have them stored is on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, you can transfer them to any computer that is authorized for your iTunes Store account. This feature adds an extra layer of protection against losing your valued purchases.

One way to back up your iTunes library is to consolidate your library into one folder and then copy that folder to an external hard drive. This is a painless process that only takes a few moments to accomplish.

We’re all familiar with the often long, headache-inducing process of testing and correcting our code to get it working cross-browser. Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to go through so much pain to achieve a good-looking result?

Much has been said about online social networks; tools such as blogs, instant messaging, Facebook, Twitter, and many other platforms have made it possible for people to establish channels for communication and share information very easily. Recently, I saw firsthand the relevance of social media where it comes to natural history.

The emergence of social media tools, with user friendly interfaces and WYSIWYG editors, has drastically changed the nature of web publishing. Whereas many years ago, posting content to the web required advanced technical knowledge, new tools and services now enable the average individual to establish a presence online in which they can share or explore their thoughts, opinions, ideas, as well as share information, resources and files. However, as with similar changes in the past, these advancements in technology have had a disruptive influence on certain aspects of society, with gaps in legislation, policy or social norms leading to a period of negotiation, debate and indeed sometimes lawsuits. Copyright, intellectual property rights and adherence to licenses and terms of use are a few such examples.

Course management systems, like any other technology, have an inherent purpose implied in their design, and therefore a built–in pedagogy. Although these pedagogies are based on instructivist principles, today’s large CMSs have many features suitable for applying more constructivist pedagogies. Yet few faculty use these features, or even adapt their CMS very much, despite the several customization options. This is because most college instructors do not work or play much on the Web, and thus utilize Web–based systems primarily at their basic level. The defaults of the CMS therefore tend to determine the way Web–novice faculty teach online, encouraging methods based on posting of material and engendering usage that focuses on administrative tasks. A solution to this underutilization of the CMS is to focus on pedagogy for Web–novice faculty and allow a choice of CMS.
