"Gonna have to downvote this and go with the [Google story](http://business.financialpost.com/2013...) instead. About being bought and sold, isn't that the first rule of social media -- that is, if you aren't paying for the product then you *are* the product?"

"MIUI users also get this built-in [permissions manager](https://play.google.com/store...). Unfortunately the standalone app linked to above doesn't work with Jelly Bean. There was a thread over on XDA where some clever people are porting the newer, Chinese-only version to English -- but I can't seem to find it."

"I think the biggest security risk is not sharing on a site where you can hide the [EXIF data](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) -- you wouldn't need any forensics beyond that info to figure out exactly where and when the photo was taken."

"This might be *a* reason, but I don't think it's the biggest one. Japan has long had its own unique [keitai culture](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...), one that goes far beyond salarymen cheating on their spouses. The world's first successful mobile Internet, i-mode, has been around [since 1999](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...). And Japanese keitai users have been using [Osaifu-Keitai](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) (mobile wallets), since before the second-gen iPhone launched there. I've visited Tokyo six times since 2001, the last time in April of this year. As far as I know, Osaifu-Keitai does not yet officially work on iOS or Android devices. Shameless plug: If anyone wanted to read about my experiences with Japanese keitai, check out chapters [11](http://myphonebook.ca/part-2...) and [16](http://myphonebook.ca/part-2...) of a free ebook I wrote last year : )"

"Really? People I know on both networks have had the opposite experience, at least downtown. Wind data works great in the second-level basement of the Eaton Centre and pretty much all of the PATH; when I was with Mobilicity I could never get reception underground."
