Sorry to say, love the machine but have the usual trouble configuring wireless network on Ubuntu. When the developers get that to work right out of the box (in this case eeeBuntu) Linux will be a lot more popular with all us animals of convenience. What's so ridiculous is that in order to get wireless to work, you need a LAN connection to get the packages you need to get the wireless to work. Huh? If I had a LAN connection in the first place (i.e. internet access) why would I need a wireless network?? In my case the LAN is upstairs and stuck into a wireless access point, not immediately accessible. But one has to suffer for it, I suppose. Here's the guide for getting the wireless to work under eeeBuntu btw (need that link when I go to plug in the LAN) : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthr...

Other than that the Linux install seems pretty snappy :-) But of course, it's not a netbook for nothing - gimme some wireless access!!

The trouble with WiFi in Ubuntu often seem to be a driver issue. So when enabling restricted drivers etc. it works like a charm

Sounds promising. I'm used to windows just picking up the WiFi signal and work right away so it's a strange and frightening new world when it doesn't...

Got my WiFi working on the Ubuntu install now thanks to a LAN connection and one of the comments to the article linked in the above

I have been using the Eyetrack-surveys for my teaching for some time. Especially the videoes from Eyetrack II are still impressive to watch for most people that are new to online content. It seems that they also have a new Eyetrack (Eyetrack07) here: http://eyetrack.poynter.org/ - but it is more specific target to news
