"I think it's still impressive. No one in their right mind would implement a full-fledged game this way but as a demo of what can be done with the most basic of web components it's impressive."

"I'm down to help teach you but think you need to learn to take the ribbing from your friends! Part of learning from others who know better than you is dealing with them poking fun at you, just roll with the punches and mock them back for not being excellent teachers!"

"I agree with what you said here but it is unfair comparing WordPress to RoR/Django via Google Trends. How many non-programmers are going to google RoR/Django? Now, how many non-programmers are going to google WP? A TON. WP is great for getting a quick prototype up & running but at some point you're probably going to want to rewrite it. A better search would be RoR/Django vs CakePHP/CodeIgnitor/Yii...and those trends show RoR/Django in the lead."

"Virgin Mobile yo! Unlimited texting, data ( web, email, etc. ), 3G, & 300 minutes for $25 / month. 300 minutes is more than enough for me, all I really need/want is internet in my pocket, though unlimited texting & 300 minutes is a nice bonus. They run on Sprint so if you're in a large city chances are you'll get good coverage. I'm in Boston and in the Boston area ( Cambridge, Brookline, Somerville, Quincy, Boston, etc. ) reception/coverage is great. If I get too far from the city 3G becomes spotty but I so rarely leave the immediate Boston area that it's not a big deal for me. Really hope these types of plans catch on with the big carriers. While my LG Optimus V is rock-solid for now, it's not top of the line and at some point I'll no doubt get tech-lust. Already starting to feel it a little because Firefox 4 beta isn't compatible but at the end of the day it's a small price to pay for paying $50+ less per month. Porting my number in from t-mobile was super quick ( less than 24 hours..."

"Build a simple site from scratch. That's the best way to learn. The site doesn't matter, the process does. Start with HTML & CSS. Build something non-interactive and simple. Something with a header area with navigation, a content area and a footer. Simple & easy, you're only doing this to learn the basics. Then, add some slight interaction to it. It could be a voting system or a login system, anything that'll require using a dev language ( PHP, Python ) and a database ( MySQL). The idea doesn't matter, just pick something and start building."
