Dear University of Minnesota Faculty, On Monday, February 22, all University of Minnesota campuses will partner to host the 2010 University of Minnesota Job and Internship Fair. Faculty support of the Fair is an integral part of its success. The career offices at the University of Minnesota hope you will encourage students to attend by mentioning it in your classes and during meetings with students. The Fair is open to all U of M undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates. It's held from 10 a.m. to 4 pm. at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Fair is free, but it does require registration. Please direct students to www.umjobfair.org for all the information they need about registration, getting to the fair, and how to prepare. The Job and Internship Fair connects students with employers and organizations seeking to recruit them for diverse jobs and internships. In this economic environment, it’s a particularly important opportunity for our students. Thank you in advance...

The LSBE Entrepreneurship Club is holding it's first Entrepreneur Competition, thanks to the generous support of the LaBounty Entrepreneurship Center. They publicized it to the students, but I realized that faculty should be aware of this, as well, so that you can encourage interested undergraduate students (of any major - this is not restricted to LSBE students). The first phase of the process was to submit one-page Concept Summaries, which were judged by one entrepreneur, one banker, and two investors (3 of whom were UMD Alumni). We awarded three $100 prizes last night, and the students were very excited about the whole process. We are encouraging all of them to submit feasibility studies, but we are also opening up the contest to anyone else who wants to submit a feasibility study, even if they did not enter the Concept Summary portion of the contest. We will be holding feasibility workshops during the week of Feb. 15 (on Feb. 15 and Feb. 19) so please encourage any students whom...
