Stephen, exactly. If it were my kid, he would have apologized for the wording he used but also stated that it is his right to not stand. And like his mother I would have expected an apology back from the teacher. I wonder if she has since offered one up or not?

I think the kid could have used a lot more colorful language in the heat of the moment. If the teacher had lost her patience, how can anyone expect the kid to have kept his?

Yolanda. His language isn't a big deal, just brings down what he is trying to do a little. A 10 year old shouldn't talk to an adult that way. It's fine that he did, we all do, but he should recognize his mistake. I personally don't see a blemish in this at all. The teacher was hounding him. He responded as a 10 year old does. Hell I know 30 and 40 year olds who act worse and use coarser language in business meetings.

Ok, seriously... the language is not a big deal. I'm looking at it from a PR point of view and I've seen these tiny things blow up before. But it's just my opinion and its not a big deal. And for those of us to totally believe in what this kid is saying, it should not be a point of debate.

Peter, the child's family is heavily involved with their neighbors who are homosexual. In doing this I'm sure he has learned the difference. Also children learn injustice very early. They know it when they see it.

The article says that the kids family has been going to pride parades and march's supporting their friends. Also the family talks a lot about what things mean. At 10, he wants to be a laywer so he is already interested in rights.

@Rachel, yep I hear you.. the family is heavily invovled with the gay groups etc.. but most 10yr kid(boys) are interested in skareboards/ gameboy /or whatever else they do kinda thing.. Human Rights and standing up for "freedom to disagree" - is not the typical behaviour.. wishing there were more like him around :0-

Josh, just the one kitten, Zoey. She is really mellow so she didn't fuss as much as past kittens I have tried this with have, but she did fuss some. The pumpkin body was the one least liked, followed by the wings (but only because they think something has happened to their legs and can't walk right). She doesn't seem to mind things on her head too much, but I was pushing my luck near the end.

Zoey was a real success story. She came to us pretty terrified of all other cats since her siblings used to beat her up, and she wasn't too interested in people. Before she left yesterday she was chasing Indiana's tail and crawling up to us to sleep in our laps. She's just adorable.

I'm with Sarah. I like to do this kind of thing myself. Like squeezing all the toothpaste out of a giant sized tube or getting a new box of Kleenix and pulling them all out one by one. Maybe I should go buy some Cheez-Its. Naw, it'd have to be Cheese Nips. Cheez-Its are too good to waste.

Yup. That sounds about right. The old tried and true floor food consuming method. Both our kids mastered it. Luckily, they have moved on passed sofa food and straight on to carry it wherever I go food.

Agree Chris. Blogs are a part of social media IMHO. Blogs are a destination platform for 'socialising' (excuse the NZ English spelling) or environment for people to interact. See every 'comments' section at the end of a blog post.

"Uganda will pass a law banning female genital mutilation, which is rampant among pastoralist tribes in the country's eastern region, the president said in a statement Friday. "The way God made it, there is no part of a human body that is useless," President Yoweri Museveni told a gathering in the eastern Karamoja district. "Now you people interfere with God's work. Some say it is culture. Yes, I support culture but you must support culture that is useful and based on scientific information," he added. Last year, the United Nations passed a resolution that called female genital mutilation a violation of the rights of women and said it constituted "irreparable, irreversible abuse." The resolution also said female circumcision increases the risk of HIV transmission, as well as maternal and infant mortality. The UN estimates that between 100 million to 140 million worldwide have undergone the practice."
