"I've been researching Death and Digital Legacy for the last 4 years. Although, there was a flurry of companies entering this space in 2008 and 2009, the sector has failed to gain traction with individuals or corporations. Much like life insurance, but perceived as far less important, only a small segment of society is willing to take action to prepare their digital affairs for end of life. And what is typical for those who do make arrangements is a lack of interest in maintaining account information after curation has been set up. In the corporate world, having a policy around account owners' end of life usually falls under general governance digital accounts. If the accounts have been set up using company domain email addresses, they may be easy enough to access. However, if employees have set up accounts using 3rd party services like Gmail, unless they've shared their passwords to those accounts, the company will likely not be able to have access.
