Adobe manages the process of getting their UI to run on OS X, Linux and Windows and you have to code against it using their rules. With Swing you have to make sure the Java environment your deploying to can handle your app and manage all of the non-App details like installing and updating. (those are the two items off of the top of my head) - note that i am neither a Java or Air coder - I just deploy and manage apps using both technologies. - bear (aka Mike Taylor)

Adobe Air is resource-hungry processor-intensive and disk space-consuming. If you care more about fast and slick performance, then I would stick with apps that use Windows built in APIs to do things. - TrafficBug

We highly recommend using Chrome or Safari to run PeopleBrowsr. The memory usage and javascript handling in those provide the best performance and lighter footprint. :) FireFox3.5 is also a huge improvement over FireFox3. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)

Please also note that memory usage is highly dependent on the number of stacks you run, and the amount of data they receive. Different browsers (or the AIR app) cache objects differently, and release objects from the caches differently. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
