I'll need to come up with a different categorization system, but Jamie's getting lumped in with the open source group for now. :)

""If cortisol is high and serotonin is low, you'll seek carbs and fats, but really heavy duty on the simple carbs -- sugar-based sweets like chocolate bars," Peeke says. The reason: Simple sugars are metabolized more quickly than complex carbs, so they offer a quick serotonin fix. If cortisol is way up but serotonin is relatively normal, a woman is more likely to crave a fat-carb combo without a huge sweet component, such as a bagel laden with cream cheese, Peeke says."

"Oooh! i just did this! It was a long-awaited home improvement project for our big closet that had absolutely no light. We bought a few rope lights from home depot (like this: http://www.lampsplus.com/product...) and put them around the *inside* door frame in the closet. Since there's no outlet in the closet, we drilled a small hole (1/2 inch) near the floor and door frame, and lopped the light cord through it and plugged it in an outlet outside the closet. We lightly glued the cord along the baseboard, and its totally not noticeable. Even better, we hooked the whole thing up to a motion detector so the light automatically comes on when we walk into the closet. The detectors let you angle which way you want them to point, so if you're worried about it turning on when you walk by the closet, just mount it in such a way that it doesn't point out of the closet door and only "sees" you when you step through the doorway. Best part? The whole setup only cost about $30-$40, its energy efficient, takes up no space, and gets the job done!"

we demoed CrowdFlower in the TechCrunch50 DemoPit last week on Tuesday with a live task in which we scanned images of a person’s business card and asked crowdsourced workers from the Amazon Mechanical Turk channel to write five kind words about the person based on what they saw. Here are some examples of what some workers said.

Thorough yet easily digestible (ha) article on why the American industrial food system is so horrible. Good for introducing the issue to friends and family.

"sanding and cleaning the sideboard, painting the insides a rich red, painting the outer frame white (leaving the top natural wood), wallpapering the doors, and adding new modern hardware."

"she used contact paper to cover the top and side, painted the frame in “green grapes” paint from ace hardware and the legs and wood on the handles a glossy cream color." Also, my kitchen cabinets have accents of about the same color, and they look horrid. Dark green and corals as shown here might help my kitchen be less awkward.

I've been considering how I want to add a "wine shelf," but a hanging wine cabinet that I can use to add lots of color might be a better approach. Black frame and maybe orange, antiqued yellow, or modern gray interior?

I love the golden uniformity! Of course the sunlight streaming through the honey adds so much extra sparkle, but this would still work in a hall or even over a couch...where I always want to take up a lot of space, but can't afford prints and paintings in the size I'd need.

"Essentially, the way it works is that for certain contacts you give them a call priority rating (one for the boss, wife, and kids; two for your mother; three for your mother-in-law; and four for Mary down the hall). Then, when you have an important calendar appointment, you enter a call priority rating and only phone calls from that rating or higher will get through, lower rated callers will go straight to voicemail."
