"The cake's history, aside from its being baked a few months before the Titanic sank, is shrouded in mystery. Two of Girard's friends, Audrey Staber and Dick Scheimo, found it on a St. Louis Park closet shelf while doing an estate-sale assessment in 1992. The elderly resident had died with no heirs, and Girard never learned her name before Staber and Scheimo subsequently passed away. But the cake came in a box with cryptic inscriptions: "Xmas cake Baked in dec. 1911" on top, "Xmas Cake baked by my mother's brother Alex died Dec. 27. Was operated on Xmas day" on the bottom."

I am not a fan at all. Coverup especially is gross.
- Garin Kilpatrick
that picture is silly because there is makeup on both sides. ugh.
- Head Ov Metal
It seems like many men don't like makeup.
- Shevonne
I used to have a BF who once said he liked women who looked like they were high maintenance but who really weren't. Yes, he was in his own world.
- Amy℠
I think most women can get along just fine with just a little eyeliner... the rest is overkill.
- matthew john ernisse
i am SO glad my wife doesn't feel compelled to put on her war paint every day. i don't think i've seen her wear more than lipstick since the last wedding we went to. clean skin is far more attractive to me.
- Joe Silence is not Santa
It depends what kind of makeup you're using, and whether you put it on well or not. Sometimes making up really well can look very natural. I'm the same as you Shevonne, love trying out different styles of eyeliner with flicks, dots or different colours, and love trying different brushes of eye colour.
- Charlotte M
@Charlotte <3 I know I have seen some women who look like they cake it on, but if you know how to wear makeup, then I think it's lovely
- Shevonne
@Shevonne: "war paint" in the sense that some women seem to wear it as part of a psychological warfare effort against other women in the workplace. i have also seen plenty of women look stunning in makeup. i just have a preference is all.
- Joe Silence is not Santa
Clean is good, but if we have acne blemishes, some of us like to cover them up sometimes. I guess most of the dislike here is for lots of eyeshadow and mascara and bright lipstick?
- Kamilah Gill
Head Ov Metal: I was also going to comment about that.. example FAIL
- JSNFLMNG
People, it represents tons of makeup on one side, and then bare minimum on other. Geesh
- Shevonne
I also do not like makeup unless there is a *very* special occasion. I suppose I was traumatized in high school by watching this girls skin go to shit because she put it on every day. Every time I think about foundation, I think about acne breakouts.
- EricaJoy
I've noticed that many men don't always realize when women are wearing makeup. I've known guys who swear that certain women don't wear makeup when, in fact, they are wrong.
- Katy S
Funny thing is, I don't wear makeup to please men. *shrug*
- cecily
@Cecily Same here. I use it cause I love it. =D
- Shevonne
I love what makeup can do. It is so transforming. I like my face without make up as much as with makeup so it's not for covering up reasons that it appeals to me, but the art of it. It's beautiful!
- Adriana
ah, makeup. spent two hours or more last night--or that's what it felt like--reading through the Allure issue on best new products and best of beauty.
- edythe
also, go, cecily, for that comment!!!!! :D i myself like makeup and i'll make no excuses!

"I can't picture you sitting still. From what it looks like on my end, you seem to be busy all the time. Not necessarily just work, but also play. It seems you have a healthy balance. But rest and "nothingness," is necessary too. I hope you enjoyed your "nothingness" day. ; )"
- Adriana
"I think part of the reason the "tooth fairy" gives kiddos money is so they can enjoy it But I like you, don't think going overboard is healthy. I would have to say anything over 5 dollars is over doing it. I will probably give Vaness 3 to 5 dollars with the time comes. She will have a field day at the dollar store lol. But that gold piece is a brilliant idea!"
- Adriana
"What?? Please tell me you are kidding? How can I be the only one that understands? Either we really are both cursed LOL or we are the only Jerry Springer families, and that is not possible! LOl ; ) I know what you mean when you say the luck worries you. God knows you have all the reason to be worried. I'm not saying that to be negative, I am saying that to be real. BUT what is even more real is that if you don't put that aside somehow, someway, you will die saying, "Shat if?" "What if I had stopped thinking and just loved or allowed someone to love me?" Don't let family take that away from you. YOU are AMAZING and you deserve love. The thing is, it's on it's way. But you have to be ready to receive it when it arrives, or it will just walk on by."
- Adriana
Looks like something you'd see at the beginning of an episode of Law & Order :)

Why is it that when I read your writing it seems as if I'm the one that wrote it? I see so much of you in me. Or should I say me in you? ; ) Glad to hear this year is better than the next. Keep up what you are doing and the chances are next year you'll be on a plane and it will be better than the next. Maybe it's good you couldn't get on the Internet. The truth of the matter is, it's...

"We must come from the same mold. To be honest, there is not one woman whose marriage or relationships have worked out in my family either. The curse is broad because the men's luck is no better. Don't let this bring you to the point where you miss out on the love you deserve. If you embrace the insecurities or the fear, you are letting this curse take over. Enough is enough! It's time to enjoy YOUR life and fall in love!"

Writing and exercising go hand-in-hand. It helps clear your mind of any stress that you have, so you can begin writing the next chapter of your book, a user manual, press release, etc. My preference is running or biking; however, yoga and pilates are also great ways to alleviate writer’s block. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as it alleviates the blocks that prevent you from writing. If you have children, then take them out for a walk, or go to the pool and swim laps while they are in the shallow area.
It's true. Exercise helps with just about every ailment both physical and mental.

"I bet meeting other bloggers or people that share your interests is great fun. I unfortunately don't have ONE friend who blogs or even has Facebook. All my FB or blogging friends I have met online or are people from my past. Currently I don't think my friends even use a computer! Sad huh? I am thinking about getting more involved with people that hold my interest such as blogging. The thing is I don't do it for profit or even to get followers (even though that is fun and great as well). I do it more than anything just for the fun of it. To be able to express myself, to myself, if that makes any sense. Don't give up on your writing group. It can take up to 11 tries for something like that to take. If you love it, do it! In the meantime it's a great idea you have to join an already established writing group."

"OK, the first tip is not to say you are a horrible runner! Take that out of your mind and don't say it again, or no matter what you do, you WILL be a horrible runner. ; ) As for a second tip, I don't have one as I have never run myself. LOL But I do know that my X was a runner and what he ate and how much fluid he drank was of upmost importance to him. He said it made a great difference. Stretching, yoga, pilates are all a great help. The exercise ball. Also learn the the proper running techniques. If you don't you may get hurt and then you lost all your hard work. I would advice you google it and see what you can find. Another person to ask is Joseph. You may have him on your FB I'm not sure. If you don't I'll ask him for you. He is an AVID runner. I think he runs like 8 miles a day or something insane. Actually maybe I'm the one that's insane and I am way off. LOL Either way, he is amazing. Let me know if you want me to get in touch with him or you. Good luck! I know you are going..."

Thanks! I swung it so I can stay in Miami for the weekend. =D

I'm about 4 hours away. I would join you there, but My grandfather died a year ago today and we have a big to do at the church for him. I'm helping plan it . I'm hoping next time I'll make it. Or who knows, I might end up in your neck of the woods!

I did it for all three and they all went on to excellent academic careers. The love of reading is ingrained early and a true pleasure is derived by the joys of learning to immerse into another world and breathe a different air. After the basics and library fare, we graduated to classics like Huck Finn and Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. They all had different authors they loved and we read together until they went off to middle school. All remain avid readers.

Great advice. You are instilling a great habit in your children. I read to Vanessa in the morning before we start off our day. Right before her naps. And before bed. If it were up to her that's all we would do. The thing about wht you are doing with your kids Shevonne, is that your kids will most likely pass on this excellent habit to their kids.

My parents always read to me. My mom had a Disney and Dr. Suess book-of-the-month subscription before I was born, so there was a lot to read. :) I'm certain that's why I love books as much as I do now.
- Heather
Reading in front of your kids is good, too. (Not instead of reading to them, in addition to). It demonstrates reading as a pleasurable pastime.

+1 Heather. For every kid I've taken care of, nannied for, whatever, I've helped to ingrain in them the wonder and joy of reading.

this might strike a chord for you: http://www.psychologytoday.com/article... - this is the only article i've read that accurately describes the intelligent, creative person.

@mike I'm reading it now. Very interesting.

"I felt rushed just reading about your business! lol Seriously, you are always busy. I see it in your writing. I think that is wonderful. It's better than being stagnant. However, as you say, it does have it's down side, and you need to think of YOU too! I think this world is all about getting it NOW! Fast food service, cars, high speed internet, EVERYTHING. My x was Jamaican. I learned something from him. RELAX. I used to watch him and want to beat his a-- LOL. It was like watching a duck waddle across the street. I was always like, "Hurry UP!" "Come on!" "What are you waiting for?" For goodness sake would you move your butt!!!!" LOL Then one day I thought to myself, "Ok Adriana, this is him. Don't fight it. Accept it for what it is." And I started watching him. Every night he would sit outdoors and just think under the florida stars. In the mornings, he would sit outside and watch the kids in the private school across the street from our home as they played. He would laugh and cheer..."

How can someone not love dogs. They always make me smile. Look at how relaxed this one is on the swing. You can tell he is enjoying life.
