Man, wish I was at your house;) I have... trail mix.
- Lis Miller
My holiday cards look like your centerpiece: silver and blue decorations in a white bowl. And I would totally eat everything you served there,
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
It looks wonderful - and the food....! NOM NOM NOM!!! Lucky you! :)
- WorldofHiglet
WoH, most of those recipes/suggestions were from you! :P
- Rochelle
why does Donnie Darko comes to mind?
- VAL D. Zone
It does look a bit like the Frank mask, doesn't it? Another reason I like our guild crest so much. :D
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I am pleased with how FF meta-tastic this is. We are World of Warcraft guild formed with FFers, based off an in-joke from the FFundercats, featuring a logo from a joke from another FF thread.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Schadenfreude maybe - I just noticed his feed seemed to be mostly Spanish or something similar
- Jesse Stay
I was NOT being sarcastic. There's a REAL DEARTH! Want to fight about it? I've got my caps lock key warmed up and ready to go.
- Bruce Lewis
Oh, duh - I misunderstood the word dearth :-) Yeah - I wasn't trying to go for traffic. I'd rather it be straight forward and sticking to the facts.
- Jesse Stay
Jesse, that will never do. I'm trying to help you out here by stirring up controversy. I'll try again.
- Bruce Lewis
I debated on an exclamation point after Fine but thought that was too "click on me!".
- Jesse Stay
If it's a good post I figure people will share it.
- Jesse Stay
Look, the image for this post is about twitter! That PROVES FriendFeed is dead. You would never see a FriendFeed-related image on a tweet.
- Bruce Lewis
Click on the link Bruce - that's not the image for this post. That's only because MediaRSS reads TweetMeme as the first image in the post.
- Jesse Stay
I'm trying to find a fix for that, btw
- Jesse Stay
Yeah, well on twitter nobody has that problem.
- Bruce Lewis
Mahendra, because those proclaiming it aren't really relevant with their proclamations.
- Itachi
Mahendra, I've never proclaimed Orkut dead - in fact, it is part of active discussions with many of my clients
- Jesse Stay
In fact, Orkut users stay on the site much longer than Facebook or Twitter users even
- Jesse Stay
i just talked to orkut today - i had a small ant farm in my apt and needed to get them to come take care of it
- Allen Stern
That's nice to know, Jesse. Yes, you are right, they're really hooked. I didn't mean you had, but I have seen lots of others do so.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Since August 10th I've added close to 600 subscribers on FriendFeed. Many are new users coming here from Twitter. Some are people I subscribe to and they sub back.

priced at just $5.99 online at milanicosmetics.com and at CVS/pharmacy stores nationwide. Dramatic purple eye makeup is really “in” right now. Check out this video from MissChievous to get purple smokey eyes.
- Caroline
What, does have roofies in it or something? You look like you're about to pass out.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I usually go with the black/brown smoky eyes, but I am gonna try this combo. I love it.
- Mary Carmen
i usually do that too LOL http://twitpic.com/t0x8c ! on the wendy williams show you do a nrmal black smokey with gray .. then you use a silver gtiller liner you pick up at wal mart.
- Caroline

- Mary Carmen
hi penguin! i look like someone sucker punched me, is a good look no? lol
- Caroline
the girl with the accent? yea lol ... AND IT'Z MAC.. TOOO
- Caroline
yeah, i am not into heavy foundation. I like to wear a TON of eye makeup, not so much on the rest of the face.
- Mary Carmen
i'm both, alot or none, never just powder tho... that feels weird,
- Caroline
also, she put those false eyelashes on in like 2 secs. And did her eyeliner with one hand. Color me IMPRESSED.
- Mary Carmen
those girls with there, SUPER HOW TO MAKEUP CHANEELS on youtube, wear that all the time... i think that girl is a model..
- Caroline

- Caroline

It's a netiquette issue. And not everyone has the same standards as you can see from people on Friendfeed who are retweeting their FB friends' status updates.
- Spidra Webster
You can have private twitter too, right?
- Bruce Lewis
Both FF and Twitter should have more obvious reminders of whether what you're viewing is private so that you can use some netiquette about how you view/RT that info.
- Spidra Webster
"Private" is never really private in social media.
- Steven Perez
Just wanted to let you all know that we're eating Shabbat/Chanukah dinner (made almost entirely of recipes suggested by FriendFeeders) while listening to you guys. You're at our Chanukah dinner! We're having a blast, laughing our asses off.
- Akiva Moskovitz
con'grats.. home is where the heart is !!
- Peter Dawson
We'll be able to walk to the harbor, the beach, the farmer's market, and groceries will be a short bike ride away. After 12 years of living deep in the redwood forest, I am sooo ready to return to civilization, I can't tell you how exciting this is!
- Jason Wehmhoener
Congratulations! We just bought our nice house, too, so I can totally relate to how you're feeling :)
- Kamilah Gill
i love this shot because she looks like she was hiding behind the controller trying to look cute when in reality she was being evil and eating the joystick. :(
- Carlos Ayala
Thanks! Flight was fine. However, when we got in the taxi line at the airport, the taxis went on strike. Then we found a hotel shuttle to the Radisson. We got to the Radisson... wrong hotel. Back to the airport. Took the train to a transfer station to a different line to a station that was "close" to the hotel. Walked several blocks. Just got in. Total time after arrival to get to the hotel? 3 hours. Sigh.
- Louis Gray
I just talked to my father for the first time in months. I always dread it. But it was fine. He can be a strict man, a difficult man, but he's always been a loving man. I really should do more to reach him halfway.
A lot of it is my baggage from when I was younger. He was a rotten father. A good man, a good employee, and a good husband for my mom, but as a father? Just clueless. What I needed, I rarely got; we just see things differently. And there's the gay thing. I was worried after my mom passed away, but he really has been a lot better, and he's trying. I guess I need to try harder to let go of my own issues.
- Derrick
*passes out kleenex*... glad for you D. really glad. keep at it. I'd give anything...
- MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS
I feel the same way, d. I do generally meet them halfway, but I spread out the contact and don't usually look forward to it.
- edythe
from iPhone
Oh it's old history edythe... thanks though... My father died back in '75. I understood him from a child's perspective. We might understand each other better now. That's all.
- MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS
*grabs a kleenex* You all are awesome. Connect while you can, and I'll do the same (even tho it's SO hard). *sniffle*
- Ayşe E.
I wished my Dad and I had a better relationship , when I was younger .. the only thing him and I had in common was computers .. he got me into Computers in the early 90's .. I was close to dad near his last yr , but by then it was too late he died at 73 ,,, I was closer to his Mom ( my grandmother ) she died at 99 .. was always great to chat with grandma ..
- johnpiercy
*I'll take a kleenex, please* Derrick, what I've learned with my own dad is that his level of understanding and acceptance has increased as he's gotten older (and as I've gotten older.) Many times when we talk, he astounds me with how MUCH he understands, and I've realized that by letting go of my stuff, I get to not take him for granted.
- felicious
Last year, I told my dad that the older I get, the smarter he gets. I thought he was going to cry for second there.
- ha3rvey (sup homepants)
My dad died ten years ago. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss him dearly.
- Akiva Moskovitz
@Brian: some of us still use some "legacy" hardware. i have a couple of machines with ISA slots that get fired up regularly cos they run things i need that have no modern analogue.
- Joe Silence is not dead
I still hold on to the stylus for a long dead PDA simply because the tip pops off to reveal a reset doohickey.
- Mark "DerBingle" J
I think we have one machine around on our network that has a diskette drive -- but it is a dinosaur in computer terms and it hasn't had a diskette in it within recent memory and I am not sure we even have any.
- Brian Sullivan
I have a dozen of those scattered around my desk at any given time. I make it, lose it, make another, find the first one, lose them both, make another ......
- Martha
Another good tool is a yarn needle. (That's right...your grandma has some mad geek tools in her sewing box) They are huge, have rounded tips (no sharp point), and the eyes are big enough to allow you to put a piece of strong string through them and tie them to something on your desk so they don't "get away". They come in both metal and plastic varieties. http://www.youtube.com/watch...
- April Russo (app103)
Methinks the Donaghe's will paint the floor with you
- Mo Kargas
I think we should seriously consider calling the Pay-Per-View guys and finding out what kind of scratch can be made with a card so potentially star-laden as this would be...Who's with me?
- Morgan Haley
Hmmmm....I think Robert cause Alex is the younger brother, so he'd probably respect his older brother. If that wasn't the case, then maybe Alex.
- Shevonne
Cage Match, I don't know. A Pissing Contest? Alex hands down, his kidneys are more functional.
- Matthew DeVries
It sucks for the user, but as a content provider you have to get those ads out there if you want your bottom line covered. No ads = no more content, no more providing.
- Sparky
I want to say HTML 5 will help this? And studies show that plain text ads have higher click-through rates then other, multimedia advertising. At least, according to TWiG.
- Mike Nayyar
from iPhone
Yep. All designers and developers know, "friends" are more demanding than most clients. I should charge triple, a) for only calling me when they want something b) for time that WILL be wasted c) general principle
- Mo Kargas
what do you mean in British English please?
- Thomas Power
It's the easiest way to get rid of these sort of people. Ask for money.
- Mo Kargas
I just find asking technical questions is enough of a deterrant. :)
- Amy
I'm not a design or dev. and I get these queries. I've offered to let them pay me and they balk. Most recently, I told a friend I could do a few pages up by Sept. 17, 2015. She was okay with it until she did the math. =)
- Admiral Anika
Over the last year I have made two new real-life friends thanks to my chattering online. Now we hang out and get dinner/drinks once in a while. Really glad there is social media
Funny thing I got to know them better via Twitter even though I spend way more time on Friendfeed. Realizing that FF is not that great to develop 1*1 relationships.
- Bindu Reddy
/looks at phone. Sees no calls from Bindu.
- Louis Gray
I think that has more to do with how the Bay Area folks using FF operate than FF itself. FFers in LA have clearly gotten to know one another. But so many FFers in the Bay Area are industry movers/shakers who don't seem as amenable to F2Fs with people who aren't also in the industry.
- Spidra Webster
Louis - LOL :) I guess what I am saying is there is no way to @ you publicly on FF... and strike up a banal/casual conversation which might lead to "lets go get a drink" next time you are in so and so place :)
- Bindu Reddy
Spidra - agree the Bay area folks don't seem to have any meet-ups
- Bindu Reddy
I've met a number of people in real-life that I first met online, not least my wife. We met on ICQ (remember that), and have just celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary last month.
- Ian May
I think Twitter can perhaps be more 'intimate' than FF, which is more like being in a room full of people somehow. Yes, I know that a regular tweet goes out to all your followers too, but perhaps we're more likely to use the DM function in Twitter than here. I'm probably talking crap, but that's my perception!
- Ian May
So far I've met two people that I met through Twitter, none from FriendFeed, and a few more fellow bloggers.
- John (a.k.a. dendroica)
Ian, I think you are right. It's easy to carry on a conversation publicly without anyone else really noticing. Peter, yes only two so far but that is much better than before when that number was zero :).. Of course, I have met a lot of other people thanks to FF and twitter but they are still acquaintances. I wouldn't really call them "friends" just yet.
- Bindu Reddy
I think it also depends on distribution of users. Not everyone puts down their locality in their FF profile. Most Twitter users do. That makes it easier to find local tweeps. But on FF you subscribe to people based on content. They might not be located where you are.
- Spidra Webster
People don't usually list their locations on FF, but it's usually not hard to figure it out based on what they post.
- John (a.k.a. dendroica)
I've made some really amazing friends on Twitter :)
- Mona Nomura
"You don’t have to fly to Hawaii to hear the sweet sounds of the ukulele. With the Make Your Own Ukulele Kit ($40) you can be strumming the four strings in just a few hours. You’ll need some common supplies like sand paper and glue, but all parts of the instrument are included. Once it’s assembled you can stain it or paint it however you want for a completely personalized look you can’t buy in any store."

DJF, because punk irony meant seeking out things that were ridiculed and putting them in people's faces. Once that was done, people rediscovered that ukes are easy to learn to play, very portable, can be cheap (although not as cheap as they used to be), etc.
- Spidra Webster
I play ukulele too. Not as well as Josh, but well enough to impress the chicks. And by chicks, I mean small baby chickens.. And good luck keeping this in tune...
- Morgan Haley
Izzy lives! I made my own dulcimer about 30 years ago, and learned to play it pretty well. Alas, it's now in the possession of my erstwhile spouse (who doesn't play it at all, btw.) Here's a link to Izzy's best: http://1800sunstar.com/ztracks...
- Mark "DerBingle" J
all ukes are not created equal and i've never met one that had rock solid tuning. i blame the neck and the string material.
- Joe Silence is not dead
Dear FriendFeed, for putting up with my whinging today, here is a picture of me (fresh out of the shower) in a silly hat that I am now allowed to wear as Thanksgiving has passed:
@LG, Matthew can see her clearly from there whenever you guys are coming and going? Nice. @Nathalie, if you post a picture we might have a meme going. :) Thanks Rochelle! @Jesse, she's the original babby of FF, after all.
- Trish Haley
I want those Happy Bunny magnets. I LOVE HB.

It's kinda hard to miss that big, cute smile. :->
