Jannifer, I always keep a local copy, and publish out to at least two places for most things I do online. On the Mac, you can sync your contacts under the address book preferences. On an iPhone you can set up Exchange support and it will automatically sync all your Google contacts. I'm not sure about Windows. - Jesse Stay
