Recently I was in Mexico and then in Barbados, and I really appreciated the chance to check my messages via the computer. I didn’t even turn on my cell while abroad. I’m not sure you wouldn’t get hit with roaming charges? I do have a friend who’ll be doing a worldwide tour, and I recommended she reserve a number: she can then always check the messages at a cyber-cafe, and call someone back from wherever she is, even without having a cell with her." - Andrea Hill
