“Dark energy” is not, strictly speaking, the most descriptive name for this substance; lots of things are dark, and everything has energy. The feature which distinguishes dark energy from ordinary matter is not the energy but the pressure, so “dark pressure” would be a better term.
However, it is not the existence of the pressure, but the fact that it is negative – tension rather than ordinary pressure – that drives the acceleration of the universe, so “dark tension” would be better yet. And we would have detected it long ago if it had collected into potential wells rather than being smoothly distributed, so “smooth tension” would be the best term of all, not

the LHC will be storing about 15 petabytes of data per year, which sounds like a lot, until you realize that it will be creating data at a rate of 10 petabytes per second ... in particle physics, the focus is on the “trigger” that makes quick decisions about which events to keep and which to toss away - Alex Gawley
This song was a big revealation for me in high school. Now that you've mentioned it, I've already started humming it in my head; I suspect it may be there all day. Thanks ;) - Jennie Lin via fftogo
I like that domains will be able to use non-Latin script, but I'm not sure about opening up TLDs. If that goes ahead then I guess it will be great for search engines. - Alex Gawley via Bookmarklet
