I hope this is the same PrimaStar Robert is talking about
- ashish
Rich: Google crush sounds more interesting - like the name of a drink.
- Jim Connolly
Why? You'll have to see our Building43 video to see why. :-) But let's just say they did the search technology for several camera stores and the conversion rate went WAY up. Why is that? Because they offer a new way of searching things that really rocks. I can't explain it in text. Gotta show it to you.
- Robert Scoble
Primestar's AnswerOil UIX is a good fit for #Bing's decision support platform, combined with shopping cart & checkout optimization products from www.allurent.com would yield further eCommerce results.
- Alexander Ainslie
I'm interested.Do they support dynamic search/ads via keywords/tags? I sent them a message, and like what I saw. Very feature driven search.
- Mark Essel
Robert: direct link to the building43 video?
- James Kuypers
Most likely to get purchased by Microsoft with the intent to crush Google, perhaps. But Microsoft intends a lot of things. Maybe they'll buy PrismaStar, then rebrand MSN, er, Live Search, er Bing, and the market will be less confused.
- Andy Bakun
Jessops has been losing money as long as anyone can remember, which is hardly Prismastar's fault. The point is though that Jessops has a very good search tool with Prismastar's AnswerOil and has seen a substantial increase in its conversion rates since adopting Prismastar's technology. It could be Answeroil which has kept them going this long (nobody would have expected them to still be around in late 2009 eighteen months ago)
- John S Cameron
John, did Jessops really see a substantial increase in conversion rates? I respectfully suggest that this is not a fact. Can anyone actually verify this claim? It is on record that Jessops are still around because HSBC Bank saved them, rather than because of their business performance.

Posting from another feed: here is the prior art that someone was looking for on Interconnected Sliders : they existed back in 2004 in the public domain - download this FLA file for free and build your own interconnected sliders: http://www.senocular.com/flash...

Kol: That's pretty neat. Wish it was shorter like wave.com or gwave.com (Google owns gwave.com anyway) or something.
- Nick Humphries
i think this @googlewave.com email address is a temporary thing during testing. after it goes live you should be able to just use it with your google account. at least that's what i think:)
- Taylan Aydınlı
if only you could bold an announcement in FF like you can in Wave :D [oh, and my username on Wave is the splendiforously original "adamlasnik"]
- Adam Lasnik

Karoli: is that your google wave nick or are you sniffling? :)
- Ahsan Ali aka. Slick
I'm sniffling because I don't have a google wave nick. Despite two invites, there is still nothing in my inbox. I am not in with the in crowd. :(
- Karoli
Karoli -- It appears as if there's a batch of emails going out now. Keep checking.
- Christopher A Carr

- vijay
i am confused... how envious are we supposed to be?
- Mike Nencetti
Is there a way to turn off the completely over the top avatars all over the place?
- Cristo
gintoki, yeah been watching this. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I'm gonna take some sensual shots tomorrow of someone (no pron). I haven't take those kinds of pictures before so if you got some tips, I would appreciate them :) Thanks!
Paul Mitchell and Regis. Derrick: FYI Pantene is probably best avoided. It's noteworthy that their commercials advertised _healthy-looking_ hair. Better to have healthy looking hair because it's healthy, no?
- Tanath
Tanath, what's wrong with Pantene? Although at this length, I could just use soap and water, I barely have any hair.
- Derrick
I never Mark All as Read anyway, so this is not required. :)
- Louis Gray
@Louis imagine leaving your GReader for 4 days and come back with 4000+ new items waiting for you...I check it every hour and I find 100+...read the first 50 and Mark all as read :)
- Ahmed
Jenna: serious bug... I marked all items older than two weeks as read, and it did that, but also marked all items newer than 2 weeks as unread!
- Shannon Jiménez
@shannon We just tested this and couldn't replicate it. Could you give some additional detail?
- Jenna Bilotta
Jenna: I selected one of my folders (that contains many feeds) and selected "Mark older than 2 weeks as read." I'm using IE8.
- Shannon Jiménez
I think that's new! I got it as well, good to have.
- Cassidy
@ben cool, thanks! (we'll chat about adding it but in the meantime you can add it as a custom service on the settings page)
- Jenna Bilotta
Jenna: Just for further info-- it does not happen when I select an indivdual feed, only when I select folders.
- Shannon Jiménez
@shannon can't replicate that here. :-/ (looking into it some more)
- Jenna Bilotta
@Jenna: still having the same problem (tried it in both IE and FF). Also, discovered that it doesn't happen if everything is already marked as read in the folder. It only happens when some things are unread. Edit: based on Joelle's comment below, maybe this happened because I had marked everything as read in that session, not because everything was marked as read...
- Shannon Jiménez
I have just had the same problem as Shannon - was coming here to share the warning - what a horrible horrible bug! (I have 400 feeds). My google reader experience is more and more a love/hate thing (certain things are just a pain when you have 400 feeds) :S Although for me it did it in every feed except the ones that didnt have posts in the last 2 weeks (obviously), including ones that were totally marked as read
- Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
note: actually i did not mark as read items I had read this very session, but all others
- Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. We have had rain to nearly fill the dams since then but average use here is still about 200L per day per household I think.
- Matt G
Yes I sing in the shower. If I have my way, I can take a long shower. But, that's rare.
- Nurse Katie
5 minutes unless I'm washing my hair. Every once in a while, I do sing in it. :p
- Helen Sventitsky
Just a few minutes and, no, I don't sing. The shower is the time where I often work over reluctant ideas. Something about the water-oxygenated air really gets the synapses firing.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Wait until they release the waterproofed Kindle.
- Akiva Moskovitz
10-15 mins usually. And it depends on what's playing on the radio and I do sing. :P
- Mol, Santa Claws
I sing everywhere else, but hardly ever in the shower. And I stay in that joker around 6-7 minutes or so.
- Derrick
You get used to having a short shower with a bucket to catch water (for the garden) and with a flow restricting shower head. Not as enjoyable though.
- Matt G
10 - 15 minutes. No singing. It's a time for dayplanning and introspection. That and waking up.
- CAJ, somewhere else
from iPhone
My showers are about 20 minutes unless I manage to stay really focused. I am slow to wake up and I tend to space out and enjoy the hot water while thinking about work or the previous evening's entertainment or family issues or something
- Daniel J. Pritchett
AJ: we have had lots of rain recently so it is not a problem now. Amazingly water usage has not risen much though, which goes to show how much water was being wasted.
- Matt G
Depends on the amount of time I have at my hands, but usually varies between 5 and 15 minutes. Music is almost always playing in background with me singing in the foreground.
- Parth Awasthi
The duration varies, but I do what Akiva does. I get some of my best ideas in the shower. I also sing.
- joey
If I have to go to work, 15 minutes. If I don't, 30 minutes. I sing my a*s off in the shower. =D
- Shevonne
Usually about 10 minutes and I frequently sing. Especially upon entering if the water is too hot, I break out into a chorus of the classic Kool & the Gang song, "Too Hot." Ideas also flow.
- Joey Gibson
It's interesting to know that most of us gets ideas while showering
- AJ Batac
10-15 minutes, unless I'm late. I can shower in 3-5 when I have to, but it's less fun.I sing sometimes, but usually in the morning I'm too asleep to sing.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
About 5 minutes (including hair). 7 if I'm shaving my legs. And like D, I sing everywhere BUT the shower (though I used to sing in the shower as a kid).
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I bring a speaker into the bathroom and sing only when it's a superlove song. Time depends on the health of the moment, usually about 10min average.
- Michael W. May
VERY HELPFUL! SHE IS ASKING ABOUT UR OPINION, NOT TECHCRUNCH'S :P
- Ahmed
Feedback entails usage. I thought she knew it wasn't out yet so I couldn't have used it already, and consequently don't have a first hand opinion about it :)
- embee
No kidding, and they'll really need to know how to #blamedrewscancer then - yikes, crazy FF folks on us like white on rice just for cocktails w/ the Olanoffs.
- Liza
True, with all the money/support they are having, you would expect a more stable product...
- Ahmed
Come to think of it, their uptime has significantly improved over the past few months. But still, this should be unacceptable. Yet apparently it isn't. People still use it. Love it. And so on. I have a thing I like to say (and believe): perfection is boring. In this case, perfection would be 100% uptime and lack of issues. This way, it's interesting. And Mashable and TechCrunch can write about Twitter 10 times a day.
- Vlad Bobleanta

On July 28, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art announced it would be scrapping its 40-year-old weekend film program, a result of declining audiences and losses of about $1 million over the last decade. LACMA director Michael Govan said the museum considers this "a pause for re-thinking" while the staff creates a more adventurous program. Since then, several supporters of the program, including a group that calls itself Save Film at LACMA, have spoken out about the decision. LACMA's film program is scheduled to cease after its final offering, "The Classic Films of Alain Resnais," Oct. 2 to 17.

The low-cost Nokias here will probably ensure Nokia’s dominance of the non-smartphone market for another year. But the bottom end’s no longer the place to be. A new report from Gartner says worldwide sales in the second quarter of 2009 dropped six percent from Q2 2008. But phones classified by Gartner as smartphones shot up 27 percent.
