Here in West Hollywood, my best friend of 18 years and his boyfriend are getting married. So yes, I get to be a groomsman at a gay wedding - prop 8 or not. Should be awesome.
- Louis Gray
It was a fantastic ceremony. One of the best weddings I have ever seen. It was traditional Jewish themed, so I am wearing a yarmulke to match the vest and tie. Lots of great friends from my teenage years.
- Louis Gray
from iPhone
Louis, I own a yarmulke as well - my wife brought it for me when she visited Israel
- Jesse Stay
+ a million for the whole thread. Looks like you're picking up some admirers here, Louis! Nylissk, we gotta warn you, you're ging after a married man with many admirers. You want a piece of this guy, you're gonna have to get in line - like filing a lien on a house with five mortgages and a line of credit, with outstanding remodeling bills. ;-)
- Mary B: #TeamMonique
Hey, who is this guy from the past. Has he come to warn us about the future?
- Eric - seven eleven
If your kids have a flash-eating bacteria, please get their asses to an ER and call the CDC.
- Mary Carmen
I know. My cousin is going to bring her kids to my daughter's birthday gathering when they have this and it's contagious! My mother and I were livid
- Shevonne
What? Seriously, though, if you really have flesh-eating bacteria, you will be dead in 24 hours if you don't have the affected limb sawn off.
- Victor Ganata
That's what she described it as. I saw the wounds the poor kids had, and they looked like the one the girl on one of the America's Next Top Model had. Impetigo? I am just guessing that is probably what it is.
- Shevonne
I have heartbreaking news. I've been asked to relay that the amazing person we know here as carlotta fancypants aka extra super cutie passed away in her sleep in the early morning of Friday, July 23, 2010. I do not have many details to pass along. I can say she was not physically well for some time. I do know this world lost something and grew a...
I am so sorry…. My most heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. We were the most casual of acquaintances, but I always knew she'd make for a best friend. She was a lovely person and will be sorely missed. Farewell, Carlotta.
- Absentee
I was just looking at her flickr pics. She looks like she was a lovely person. I'm sad I didn't get to know her other than a few threads I remember seeing her reply to. RIP :(
- Tamara
I'm guessing the conversation continued like this - "And why is he awesome?" "Because he can take the blame, he can do what the good guys can't, and he can take the blame." "Very good. And why can he take the blame?" "Because he's Gotham's Dark Knight, Daddy"
- Le Slip Anglais
Stephen, the show was great. They still have serious energy and are great showmen!! We didn't ahve as good of seats as we did for Sarah on Sunday but it was really a wonderful night. And we did dinner with it last night which is always a pleasure there!!
- Rachel Lea Fox
(All right, everyone's probably getting sick of #FFtrollquote now, so last one from me for a while. I tried to squeeze in at least seven problems this time.)
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
Yeah, that's good Sparky, but I was also counting the errors in my first comment up above.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
OK, here's what I mixed up: 1. The quote "Play it again, Sam" is attributed to Humphrey Bogart's character Rick Blaine in "Casablanca" (1942, http://www.imdb.com/title...); however, the phrase is never actually spoken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...). 2. Humphrey Bogart also famously played detective Sam Spade in "The Maltese Falcon" (1941,...

I remember that coming to this realization was a profound experience for me. Glad you've come to the same thought and are sharing it with everyone!
- Ruchira S. Datta
Though, judging from the comments not everyone sees it the same way. :-)
- Ruchira S. Datta
Ruchira, sorry, I'm in a weird mood and wanted to test the aphorism through inversion.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
No need to be sorry, nothing wrong with a little humor. :-)

A lot of things in life just suck and they hurt a lot, for a long time. A big part of life is learning how to deal with that without going crazy.

"There will be no storybook ending for Borders. The 40-year-old book seller could start shuttering its 399 remaining stores as early as Friday. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based chain, which helped pioneer the big-box bookseller concept, is seeking court approval to sell off its assets after it failed to receive any bids that would keep it in business."

This makes me sad. Borders is the anchor store for a mini-mall near my house, and I'd enjoy stopping in there and spending an hour or two browsing now and then. I wish they'd created a more compelling business model than charging full price for books.
- Kevin Fox
It's going to create a big hole in a center near here, too. And fwiw, we've spent a lot of time in there, buying books the kids have needed for school and various other things. Reality is, though, that I haven't bought a single physical book since I got my iPad a year ago - and I probably won't ever again. I'm just going to get better at shopping for electronic books.
- Mary B: #TeamMonique
I'm really going to miss Borders. I wasn't a huge fan of the shopping experience, but they were cheaper then B&N. How does B&N charge more but have more success? The better store experience? I'm still mad they bought up Walden Books.
- Heather
B&N is successful because they didn't choose to contract with Amazon for their online presence, and they developed their own e-reader in-house and built an ecosystem for it. Borders sells no fewer than 5 different e-readers fed by 3 different e-book ecosystems and none of which they designed on their own (I may be wrong on that last bit). Borders acted as if bricks and mortar were forever and they just needed to rent a presence on this online and digital fad.
- Kevin Fox
I'm probably the only one who didn't enjoy Borders or Waldenbooks.
- Amit Patel
Maybe the small book stores that have been able to stick around will now be able to take advantage of this. Little "We're still here!" advertising might help.
- Me
I won't really miss borders, but I will miss the era of giant book stores. My kind of temple.
- Todd Hoff
I think this article is exactly backwards: Google+ is already a big pond and you're not going to be likely to make a big splash (HA! SPLASH! GET IT?) there without a significant time investment. In contrast, you could relatively easily become a well-known user of a smaller service like FriendFeed.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo

To be honest, I like FriendFeed's balance: It's public, but when I share stuff like the ticket scalping incident from last month, I don't necessarily want all that many people to be reading it.

I've lost count of the number of times I have to tell people that if they don't like what I post on Facebook they should hide me or unfriend me. Some have actually taken that advice.

Instead of saying "you're doing it wrong" they should just quickly press mute and stfu. :)

Jandy is extremely crush-worthy, there is no denying that.

I hope the g+ talk dies down on g+. Right now it just feels like a giant tech blog on how to g+
- Tamara
Where do you expect people to talk about Google+?
- Rochelle
I thought that the first rule of Google+ was...
- Julian
Honestly, I think that's what G+ needs during its Field Test. Once they have a bookmarklet, conversations will turn away from trying to sneak people in.
- c.a.j.
I remember when Friendfeed used to launch new features, all people would talk about were the new features. happens with everything.
- chrisofspades
I'm not hating on Google+, heh...I'm just making an observation.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
Just wait til the honeymoon phase is over.
- imabonehead
I'm talking more about other stuff than I am about G+ over there.
- DAMMIT, MR. NOODLE
It just depends on your friends, but yes the biggest buzz seems to be about Google+. Had to put someone out of circles and block since he was just self promoting and touting google+ with a developer on every post. It's about everyone and not just about the "me" so to speak.
- James Stratford
Hey now! We were talking about stuff.

*back from G+* All the talking about Google+ there is starting to die down, at least relatively. Still, it's been only a few days and we're still figuring out what to do. Most of my G+ talk is in the comments on other people's posts. And people are talking about FF there too...
- Dennis Jernberg
Err, really think I am a fake account, Joe? I was live in a G+ hangout, so that must count for something.

o' why did you have this conversation at google+? theres so many comments i want to plus in this thread
- chaz2b
No, I can see lots of different topics being discussed on Google+ now.
- Kol Tregaskes
But remember all we talked about on FF at first was FF
- Leo Laporte
As cools as G+ is or could be I still think FF is better for conversations. You see a lot more conversation per screen area on FF. G+ has a lot of white space and space used for comments and meta data.
- Todd Hoff
Headboard Jim? What are you two doing in bed together.......?
- Joe
from YouFeed
I saw someone mention that Google+ is the return of Friendfeed. Which is funny, since it never went anywhere. (I get the sentiment but it's still inaccurate.)
- c.a.j.
and here I thought you were knocking boots Jim. (Disappointed)
- Joe
from YouFeed
I'm seeing the same types of blog posts about Google+ as I did for Friendfeed. Same logic applies. Many of my closest friends I met through Friendfeed. I'm sure the same will happen for Google+.
