I know exactly what you mean Tina, I seem to be the same way too. :|

In a way I'm glad I'm not the only one, but OTOH I know it sucks so I'm not glad I'm not the only one. Boy, that made a lot more sense in my head...

You're definitely not the only one feeling that way. I guess the trick is to find someone else, who you can work with and complements your talents/skills/interests, and set up together.

I'll add my "me too" reply. I've done a Team Management Index test to find out what my work personality was. In short, it said I like starting things and being involved but need to be able to pass on the work to someone else for implementation. Now to find a job that matches! :)

Curtis, that's it EXACTLY. The 'finding a job that matches' part is always the hurdle, though =/ When I worked at MCI they had a whole department that fit this work style and I was *this* close to being able to apply with them when they shut my call center down. Grrr...

Most large companies have a group of project based resources in their IT dept. and if I ever left consulting it is what I would want to do. These employees have knowledge about the company's systems and businsess processes and work on new implementations, upgrades, etc. One path is to become an technical expert that gets farmed out to various projects as a SME. Another path is to get certified in project management (PMP) and oversee the project. Either way, you get to work on large projects that run from a few months to a few years and the detail "work" of implementation is outsourced to coders, consultants, etc.
