For those of you with a nickname/shortened name, etc.: do you put that or your 'real' legal name on your resume. I'm putting my legal name on my paperwork (since that's what will go on all my hiring documents) but Dave thinks I should put Tina instead.
The frustrating part is that I know why he's suggesting this and it pisses me off (not that he's suggesting it, but the fact that it would even be an issue). - FFing Enigma
i use my legal name on my resume and any formal documents/forms. - Joe Silence
I put my legal name on anything and if they have an area that asks for other names that I've worked under, I'll add Katie - Just Katie
when i'm at work, "Joe" is only used in face-to-face conversations. in print, it's always my legal first/middle initial/last. lone exception: work IMs. - Joe Silence
I always put Peter on all legal forms. (stop sniggering at the back) - Pete
i used to have a co-worker named Richard who signed everything as Dickard. - Joe Silence
I always put my full legal name on all forms and documents, including my resumé. That way everything matches up legally, and then I can decide who does or does not get to call me by my nickname/shortened name. - SOMEBODY!
I'll have my Middle name on official stuff like graduation certificates, passports and what not. But I generally don't bother with it. But I've just noticed that its not on my Resume. *shrug* - Roberto Bonini
Legally: Curtis A. Jackson, informally: Alan. Random: Hey you! ;) - caj
Legal name. I want them to have it right from the start. - Katy S
I put my legal name, Patricia. They usually immediately ask if that's what I go by, and I tell them Trish and they make a note. - Trish R
Yes always use my full name on forms and official docs. - Kol Tregaskes
I use both. I write my full name and then (Joey) to clarify what I am generally called. - joey
I use my full name. - Fikisha
So the full name would be: Argentina? TinaFey? Eight-a, Nine-a, Teen-a? - Morgan
I use my full name on almost everything (CV, papers, presos, even FF) - my colleagues tend to use my nickname, even for formal things. I use my nickname for face-to-face stuff. - Elizabeth Brown
My first name is not horrible in any way, it's a family thing and I love the story of it. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in the US with this name which is cool in my book. But said first name has caused confusion in many people in the past: how to pronounce it, what it means, and apparently what culture it indicates. Only the first one is a valid concern IMO, the fact that the others might come into consideration during a job search pisses me off because it ought not matter. - FFing Enigma
