FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Just saw this float down my feed. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
FFtags.png
Not just the tags part, either. Possibility of ads coming down the pipe this same fashion. Note the inability to like or comment the item, just hide it. - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Yup...noticed this too and was thinking the same thing. :/ - JA Castillo
Hide - dkb
It depends on what you're thinking. I'd be happy if it implied that tags are on their way. I'm afraid it might imply something else (even though it wouldn't be a big issue anyway), - Niki Costantini
I saw that earlier too. Looks like ads are coming that way as you say. - Pete Gilbert
On the upside, I'd forgotten you could import contacts, so I just massively increased my subscriptions, which should improve my rather quiet experience. - Heather Solos
@Tina Refreshing your page, you can see that this thread still remains in yous homepage. It's really possible that FF is testing a kind of ads (I hope not). It seems like Magpie for Twitter+Google Ads - Roberto.aka.tornosubito
According to what was in the feedback room, the post should flow down river. Also, I just tried and the text in the tag area doesn't seem to be searchable (at least, the post in question isn't coming up when I search for that phrase) - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
If they allowed me to hide some advertisers and not others, I might let some stay - Brian Hendrickson
Well, FF has to make money somehow and integrating ads that way doesn't seem a bad idea. At least it doesn't bother me in Twitter clients like Tweetie and Twitterific. - Oliver Bouchard
good, never had time to actually go to that page :D now added some friends ;) - Sasha Kovaliov
We were planning on doing a similar thing for Twitterfall..com, but decided against it. But then we don't have as many users as FriendFeed ;-) it's a neat idea though, and not TOO intrusive considering things flow down the river all the time. - Jalada
Interesting to note in the source: this entry is marked <div class="entry promo">, without a specific entry ID, whereas std entries are <div class="l_entry entry" and have an actual id. So I'd say there's definitely ad revenue around the corner. On the other hand, the 'tags' area seems like it was thrown in and doesn't look coded for actual tag usage <div style="float:right; color:#999; font-size:11px">Shameless self-promotion</div> - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I like it - it's functional and you can hide it - not like usual ads. - Sasha Kovaliov
@Tina, oh my... so deeep into the code :D - Sasha Kovaliov
i made a post about this and linked to this thread - http://www.centernetworks.com/friendf... - Allen Stern
i didnt make a post about this and didnt link it to this thread! - Giraffes Up In The AIr
Tina you beat me to the screenshot! I didn't mind the "shameless self-promotion" I guess as long as I can Hide it, it wouldn't bother me. Hopefully ads will be non-invasive and not animate! - Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
