This is the area where we went riding today: northern Pickens County, about 30-45 minutes from here. It's also where I grew up. The second pic is of Table Rock mountain, and is a view I saw every day for years. I miss it...

... There is an abandoned property for sale nearby, so we stopped and looked at it on the way home today. I'm going to be honest: economy be damned, I would probably put myself in hock up to my eyeballs to be able to buy it and build a house there. - FFing Enigma

Looks pretty! Can't say I blame you Tina!! I moved clear across the USA to get myself land, a view to die for and a mortgage payment I could afford - Susan Beebe
*sigh* My great-grandfather owned most of the property along the road where I grew up. When he passed it was parceled out amongst his 6 children, so I was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by extended family. My grandmother has sold much of her's (a WHOLE 'NUTHER RANT), so two of my great-aunts have bequeathed me portions of their parcels. I love them dearly for it, but I really don't want to wait for anyone to die to move back 'home'. Plus, the property we looked at today overlooks a working orchard, which I think is too cool for words... - FFing Enigma
We keep thinking of buying property up there... The prices have gotten very high lately, but for obvious reasons! - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge

Ken, are you looking for a lot to build on, or a finished house? I found a couple of interesting prospects while trying to find details on the property we looked at... - FFing Enigma
