Dear $3.49 premade salad from Publix: you are quite tasty, and pair nicely with the bottle of Robust Italian and li'l bag of bacon bits I bought. Noms!
Just received my new-to-me laptop for work. Had to have it since I'm traveling next week but am not thrilled about it since it means work is now officially portable =/ With that said: IT'S CROWDSOURCING TIME!! I need your best FREE file mgmnt system to sync files between my desktop and the lappie. Docs only, not worried about email. GO
If you're looking for an automatic, always-synced type of system, Dropbox is the best (though, it does have a limit on total capacity). If you're looking for something you can sync manually back and forth between the two (either over a network or with the use of an external drive in between), SyncBack is an awesome choice.
- DAMMIT, MR. NOODLE
Alright, after a bit of playing around it appear that the desktop and lappie will in fact see each other on the network, which I have to say surprised me a bit. So this means SyncBack is a very viable option for pushing copies from one to the other. Since SB will let me automate the process (at least, it did last time I used it), what are the selling points for DB over SB?
- FFing Enigma
Do you use roaming profiles at work? I've seen trouble with DB when roaming profiles are enabled, since the files cache can get a bit out of hand if you don't have it directed somewhere other than the default. (no experience with SB)
- Jennifer Dittrich
The advantages of Dropbox over SyncBack (as far as I'm concerned) are: 1) Dropbox is Web-accessible, as well; so you can access your files from another computer if need be. 2) You can share your files with other Dropbox users. 3) It is fully automatic (as soon as a file changes on one box, it's synced on the other box).
- DAMMIT, MR. NOODLE
The advantages of SyncBack over Dropbox are: 1) SyncBack has no limits. Sync as much as you want as often as you want. 2) SyncBack allows you to keep files in a folder without syncing them. You choose exactly which files sync and which don't.
- DAMMIT, MR. NOODLE
Edit: Windows Live *Mesh* works like a charm. You get 5GB and it works with your SkyDrive which is 25GB. You can access your files from the web, share files, and you can remotely control your other computers if you want. That is built in.
- Eric - seven eleven
I love Dropbox. I wish more people (at least my fellow classmates) used it so we could share stuff more easily.
- Derrick
From the Director of Corporate Communications at SugarSync when I asked him why SugarSync over DropBox: 1) The reason why most people only use the free version of Dropbox is because it forces users to adopt a new behavior -- you have to learn to drag and drop everything into your special "Dropbox" folder, thus saving it in 2 places (the folder you normally save it in, i.e., My...

- SAM
And Live Mesh storage limit is only for the cloud, direct machine to machine syncs is unlimited
- Jeff (Team マクダジ )
SAM, Dropbox does have selective folders for sync now https://www.dropbox.com/help... . Users can treat their Dropbox folder as the root for all their data and select subdirectories within as designated to be backed up.

Nothing is as much fun as being asked to join a conference call at 5:15p. NOTHING.
Not really, Zulema. I'm going to step outside for a quick walk once this conference call is over and see if that helps.
- FFing Enigma
That should help get the blood flowing and maybe the fresh air will perk you up :)

I fell asleep on the couch last night. Dave left me there. I can't decide if he's sweet for letting me sleep or a butt for letting me sleep on the couch the whole night.
That's kinda where I was headed, Johnny. In his defense I am still coughing a lot at night so maybe he left me on the couch in self preservation...
- FFing Enigma
Question: did he put a blanket or adjust your blanket when he went to bed?
- Johnny
from iPhone
There was no blanket. There also was no spoon.

Dave to me last night: "This Alanis Morissette song is old enough to vote!" Me to Dave: "Not quite, but at 16 it's definitely old enough to complain about how much it sucks to listen to such an old song."
CPU maxed out? Flash plugin going berserk?

It's not doing anything other than sitting on my desk, on and plugged in. I'm using my desktop right now and have the laptop up and ready in case I get a spare minute to work on setting it up the way I want it. Have changed the power settings to modify the insane fan level but that doesn't seem to be helping much. Bottom of the lappie is cool
- FFing Enigma
my old Crampaqed lappie also turns into a hair dryer sometimes.
- Hieronymous Boosh
My guess is yes but will have to check.
- FFing Enigma
No, it would appear the graphics aren't NVidia. Hrm.
- FFing Enigma
Possibly a loose heat sink to the processor or another chipset.
- Eric - seven eleven
Also, try a BIOS update if you haven't already. This can fix fan issues.
- Eric - seven eleven
Yeah, it's going to get a scrubbing and general overhaul. Even if our tech guy did clean it up, it's still a pre-owned which means you never know what's hanging around...
- FFing Enigma
Dear asiago: don't tell Dave, but the answer is YES I'll run away with you!
Lunch: lemon pepper chicken, leaf spinach, and asiago on whole wheat with mayo and honey mustard, bosc pear, crackers with garlic/herb cream cheese, and mint green tea. It sounds awesome, but apparently I'm still sick and can't really taste it (and am in fact not actuallly hungry).
Tomorrow is Valentines Day, wich means one thing in my family: HEART SHAPED MEATLOAF! You're only laughing because you've never had my mother's meatloaf.
Dave and I are going on a date with the wife and daughter of a friend tomorrow. Friend is a truck driver and is out of town so we volunteered to keep them company.

I have nice dinner plans, but now I'm jealous.

Wife and I agreed to not buy gifts for each other, just something for the kids. I'll probably cook a nice dinner for her when I get back to town.

Holiday meal consumed 3 hours ago. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, fried cabbage, and angel food cake with stawberries. I'm still so full that I run the risk of losing it all at practice =(
What holiday is this meal for?
- Anika

Valentines day is one of the three meatloaf holidays in my family. Mom made the heart shaped meatloaves (yes, there were more than one!) and I made the rest. Except the cake, I bought that.

Scrimmaged last night. Had committed to going 2 weeks ago and figured I was mostly well so I might as well sweat out the last of the plague. Except for wanting to puke the first 20 minutes it was all good until I did something funny to my knee during cool down laps. Now it's a little swollen and feels kind of numb. Weirdness!
Fishnets with socks ATTACHED? A roller girl's dream come true! $30 a pop for something that would last 3 months tops means I'm not likely to participate: 'tis much more cost effective to buy $30 worth of tights and socks in combination so that when one blows out I have backups...
- FFing Enigma
from Bookmarklet
Really? You could get 3 months out of them? I would have thought less.
- Alex Scrivener
Well, these would be a "wear for bouts only" type of item, and 2 bouts a month means they might last 6. If I wore them for practice I'd be lucky to get a month out of them. And FWIW it's the velcro straps on our pads that do the most damage to our tights.
- FFing Enigma
Same company! Unfortunately the fishnets are the only one with the low cut sock option, everything else is midcalf... Too bad they don't let you pick the sock length!
- FFing Enigma
Imma need it! I've reached the point where I feel pretty ok until I have to medicate every 4 hours, but when I lie down to sleep my lungs crawl out of my chest thorugh my throat =(
- FFing Enigma
Ugh... It's apparently been 4 hours since I took any medicine; I can tell because the bridge of my nose is throbbing and feels like it's about to explode off my face.
Yup! I still have flashbacks to when I was 12 with short hair and got called 'young man' a lot. Crazy people!
- FFing Enigma
There was about a year when my brother (3 yrs younger than me) and I looked *identical* and I got called Nathan a whole lot. I was pretty funny to see people's faces when they realized their mistake.
- Kirsten
There's a reason I go by 'Tina': so far as I can tell I'm the only person in the US with my actual first name. And three Es in my French middle name. Every year I could tell when the teacher got to my name on the roll, there was always a pause and a head tilt.
This has about a 10% chance of being right...but you may want to check if you're signed in on another computer. You can go to the same page for https:// status to see any computers with an active connection.

I only log in from 2 computers and specifically log out of them when done. But now that you mention it, I think it's because of my phone. Stupid stupid FB =/

Yesterday I felt normal (temperature wise), and the thermometer read 96. Today I'm feeling warm, take my temp, and it's 98. Apparently I run cold for a human.
98.6 F is the average *core* temperature, and the gold standard for measuring core temperature is rectally. Every other method tends to give lower temoeratures than actual core temp :)
- Victor Ganata
Didn't used to be this way, there was a time when my oral temp ran an even 98 on healthy days. I try to avoid all methods of taking actual core temps, rectal and liver thermometers alike =D
- FFing Enigma
Went to work and am now back home: my steam ran out and it was obvious to everyone (myself included). Now I'm sitting in my chair thinking about lunch: I'm a little tired of soft food. I might be brave and make a grilled cheese sammich...
Operation Grilled Cheese has started! Whole wheat bread with asiago, mozzerella, and american cheese (I like 'em melty dammit!) with cracked black pepper, garlic powder, and some onion slices. OMNOMNOMNOM!
- FFing Enigma
That sounds like an epic grilled cheese sandwich. I'd pay for that.
- Ha3rvey #teamMonique
Whoa. Now THAT is what I call a grilled cheese sammich.
- Jandy
Annnnnd it's gone. Here's hoping I don't pay for it in a few hours!
- FFing Enigma
Normally I add a few slices of avocado and some shaved turkey, but I worked with what I had on hand. Twas tasty!
- FFing Enigma
I woke up this morning and didn't feel inhuman! That's always my test for when I'm getting better: how do I feel after 8 hours with no medicine. I may go in to work for a few hours this moring. Or not. I have 10 minutes to decide...
I always feel worse in the afternoon when I'm recovering, so you could go in for half a day and give yourself the option of coming home if you run out of energy or feel worse.
- Trish R
I came in. Sat down in my boss's office and said I'm here until I can't be any more.
- FFing Enigma
Alright, I'm fading fast. Going to see if I can make it another 15 minutes (I have a report that runs every day at 11a) and then I'm out.
- FFing Enigma
Dear world: yes, I am sick. No, I have not been to the doctor and do not intend on going. Odds are good I have a viral infection and getting on anti-biotics will do exactly jack crap for that. My experience shows that rest, hydration, and OTCs for symptons have an extremely high success.
Like they say, it will usually go away in 7 days without treatment, or in 1 week with treatment ;) Hope you feel better soon!
- Victor Ganata
I do the same thing and everyone's like GO TO THE DOCTOR and I'm like IT GETS BETTER THE SAME TIME ANYWAY AND CHEAPER.
- Jandy
I am a strong believer in the healing powers of OJ, chicken soup, and hot tea. I've been on antibiotics maybe 5 times in the past 25 years, strep, scarletina, and a questionable bout of bronchitis. Oh, and impacted wisdon teeth.
- FFing Enigma
I would still go to the Dr. You could end up with a bacterial infection on top of your virus. We are having a mini epidemic at work right now. About 20% of the office (of 100 people) are out with the same nasty virus. 4 people have been diagnosed with pneumonia. I got the virus back on Jan 10 and and just this week feeling 100% better. It started with flu like symptoms, then a chest...

- Jeff P. Henderson
I haven't taken antibiotics since I was 15. I have asked for them twice, though, and been denied both times. Once my mom and Shawn came down with the same thing, got antibiotics from their doctors, and were well in a week, while I remained sick for three months. :/
- Pixie
Alix, some doctors are very reluctant to hand out antibiotics, while others hand them out like candy. My experience is that I usually end up with a secondary infection, i.e. a bacterial sinus infection when I get sick, so the antibiotic almost always helps.
- Jeff P. Henderson
but if events in the future can alter the past (https://friendfeed.com/science...) then clearly Mr Dick was riffing on the observers who were riffing on the watcher
- RAPatton
I want to see it, based on the cast and source, but I'm a bit concerned that the studio pushed it back to March - it was originally supposed to come out last fall. Sometimes that's not a big deal, but often it means they don't think the film is good enough to compete in the fall.
- Jandy
I don't think PKD got hit by the pink laser beam from outer space until later ;)

Eager to see, cause I love the Observers on Fringe.
