'Taylor and Cox say that the Friendfeed product will live on independently, and eventually Friendfeed will be merged into Facebook.' — http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
The writing's on the wall, folks. It's just a matter of time before all of this that we have built will be gone. - Akiva Moskovitz
:( - Lindsay
Taylor and Cox say that the Friendfeed product will live on independently, and eventually Friendfeed will be merged into Facebook. But the Friendfeed team is not being kept whole. Some employees will now report to Cox, others to engineering head Mike Schroepfer. In my opinion that means, long term, the Friendfeed product itself is unlikely to be a big priority. - Alex Scrivener
That really says it all. - Kevin Whalen
crispy critter - Joe Silence is not dead
wow.....i thought the true potential of FF had yet to be tapped....it's so unique and slick that i really thought it would eventually be a force on it's own.... can't blame the FF team for taking the $$$ but it will be a shame if all comes to an end as a result... but FB is in a position to either bully or buy out the competition and they did.....but lets see what happens...and until the end happens, i'm gonna keep carrying on posting my stuff as before.... :-D - Live4Emma (L4S)
Yeah very sad about this: http://ff.im/6pUPb - Kol Tregaskes
The only quote you need -> "they’ll look at how to integrate the products.” ;-) - Matthew Horton
I wonder if the FF entire eco-system can live within Facebook while keeping the same interface. - Amit Morson
Very sad indeed. - Niki Costantini
But Paul Buchheit said he was going to make sure that he fights for FF not to go away. He's going to do his PERSONAL BEST. That's good enough for me! *rolls eyes* - Mark Wilson
Without underestimating Paul Buchheit capabilities, fighting from within the Facebook bureaucracy will be a lot different than what it looks now. - Amit Morson
I don't understand how FriendFeed could live on inside Facebook. Most people there are not happy sharing with the whole world (most people aren't happy sharing at all). I don't want to share my posts to just my friends, but at the same time...I don't want thousands of people access to my private FB page... - Patrik Johansson
I have two thoughts (actually, I just wrote something longer than usual and realized I always have two thoughts - is that a Gemini thing?): one, a Friendfeed page on FB that WE open and control. Two an ex-FFers' Ning network. Now, that wouldn't give us features or real time, which would suck, but at least it would be a place to hang if something happens to FF proper. And maybe you guys who really do invent technology could build something? Or - Or - could we get a broom closet at Building 43? Who's more fanatical about the internet than FFers? - MaryB, BrandingBroadOfFF
Well, the wheels are already in motion for the creation of a clone of this place. There are some seriously dedicated people, myself included, who are all over it right now. - Akiva Moskovitz
Rock on, Akiva! :-) - Live4Emma (L4S) from iPod
Akiva, I don't know whether to have chills or tears of excitement from: "Well, the wheels are already in motion for the creation of a clone of this place. There are some seriously dedicated people, myself included, who are all over it right now. - Akiva Moskovitz" Let's just say I'm smiling!! TY - Myrna
Now if they'd only heed Leo's call for opening FriendFeed's source code. If we had that as a base to begin with, well, we'd be at the ready the moment FriendFeed goes away. Hell, I'd be happy with just a snapshot of things as they are presently. - Akiva Moskovitz
If friendfeed merges into facebook, I'm going to go and join a russian hacker collective or something. The reason I use both friendfeed AND facebook is because each fills a DIFFERENT need in my online life. - Slippy "WildBeard" Lane
Ditto Slippy - Myrna
But somewhere I read "when you change the way you look at something, the something changes" - Myrna
Myrna - I thought it was "when you change the way you look at something, the something changes you." - Slippy "WildBeard" Lane
One sec brb with quote - Myrna
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” ~ Wayne Dyer - Myrna
I stand corrected. I think I was thinking of something in a terry pratchett story or somesuch :-) - Slippy "WildBeard" Lane
Slippy, now that I have your attention, what's SUP protocol. Excuse my technical naivety please! - Myrna
Akiva do you have a twitter account you would like to share? Just in case the rug is pulled out from under us, would definitely want to stay abreast of any progress on this front. - jcunwired
jc, its right on his main page on top. - Myrna
