Sigh, sad but true. I've been having massive dust issues with my 5D recently. For some reason, the 5D seems to attract a lot more dust than my 20D ever did.

I let apps like twitter, Friendfeed and last.fm update my FB page so I don't actaully have to go there. Oh and I dump all that hugging and loving and biting etc. crap too.

Plenty of people still use it. I was forced to join because an organization I'm in uses it exclusively for group communication. Before that I was against any kind of those social networking sites. If you're a student, it's no secret that FB dominates every campus out there, so you've got to use it. FF is just a speck on the map, that some of the bigger geeks have come to endorse.

I love Facebook because all of my non-IT friends are on there. It's the only way I can communicate with them! But as for the app invites... most of them are useless. I've been ignoring invites for a while now.. And only install useful apps, like the Friendfeed one. There's also a very useful app that stars Chris. ;)

Spent some time cleaning off my Facebook Profile. Stripped it way down. Much nicer now, no crap. I haven't been into FB for months. Sigh.

I did the same recently. Got rid of a bunch of apps. I'm really not sure what's the point of all of that stuff. I can't figure out if Facebook is a playground or a feed generator.

Cole: I just added FriendFeed onto my profile and deleted the rest of the stuff. FriendFeed aggregates all my stuff together and puts it into one neat and clean box.

You can have your FF feed flow into your Mini-feed. Then you don't have to have the FF app on your profile page.

All the time I am spending on Friendfeed is reducing also my time on Facebook. I'm wondering for how many others it is the same. Facebook's "People you may know" is a very nice addition however.

I think the whole social networking world is so fluid right now as everyone tries to make it usable for the non-geeks. I would argue Facebook was probably the first to grab what I would call the mainstream down to the Grandma's and Grandpa's. Now we just need FB to open up the use of that community they have built up on facebook. (can you say opensocial..;)...). FB reminds me of skype.

Facebook satisfies the voyeur in me..ah ah...I really like the transparency of it. BTW, I was on the CISCO seminar today and quite enjoyed what you had to say Robert. My head is still spinning with ideas there are just so many app. out there that it's quite hard to pick the right one. I'll just have to keep up with your work and that will put me on the right track. Thanks !!

LinkedIn contains 20-30% of my college friends 1982-1990. Facebook only has 3% of my college friends, but a lot of my Tribe.Net dance & burning man friends are moving there. Tribe.Net has the best SF area events. None of my 400 "friends" uses Twitter.
