Oh, I thought Alberto was voicing his own opinion here and not just posting a Fox News story...I know that Fox News will push this side of things as bullshit as it is. Juan Williams has a history of biasing stories and editorializing the news on NPR and it runs completely counter to how they expect things to be reported on there...which is why I always laugh when someone like Mark calls NPR a progressive or left leaning news organization. It couldn't be further from the truth.

There is a difference in stating opinion and fact. Juan Williams was fired because he stated his opinion, which is wrong when you're doing s story. He should say something about stating an editorial before he starts spewing his racist views.

Alfred, It's the first thing I tried. Believe me "Group Policy Editor" is NOT included in Windows Home Premium. Like I said in my post, it's only a part of Business, Enterprise and Ultimate. I understand completely. I turn away when i see CNN or any other news channel on TV. Even twitter sometimes can get a little depressing. But realize that (1) depressing news gets ratings (2) there will always be things depressing to report and (3) generally speaking there are always his and lows. For example, I just found out I will be the father of twins.

The first of the images of mine censored by Flickr is of a sculpture that sits in the middle of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It’s public art approved by the City of Beverly Hills and seen by thousands of children every year. Unfortunately Flickr deems the image too risque for the public view and has instead chosen to censor it. The second image of mine censored is of a painting by artist Mel Ramos that hangs in the Oakland Museum of California. Again, a public museum visited by children every single week of the year. The third image of mine censored by Flickr is of a screenshot of the Flickr Blog announcing the Yahoo acquisition of Flickr from back in 2004 stating, “…but we’re going to stay true to our vision and to the people who made us what we are — that’s you, the Flickr pioneers…” The post was critical of Flickr who many feel have not stayed “true” to their original vision. It's really too bad that Flickr takes this kind of approach on censorship. I really don't think they should be censoring anything (short of child porn), but if they are going to censor their members' photos, they should at the very least have a very specific set of guidelines that they follow. And these guidelines should be posted prominently on the site, so their members know exactly what's going on, and to what standard they are being held to.

it does suck that adults in Germany, et al, can't see boobs on Flickr even when signed in as an adult even though they can see them on commercials in Germany. I think the thing that bothers me the most about all of this is that it happens quietly and behind your back. I feel that if Flickr is going to censor you that they should at least have the courtesy to notifying you that they are doing it to you and why.

Censorship and communication re: censorship is the consistently bad part of Flickr, ever since their beginnings, actually. Early on (pre-Yahoo purchase), Flickr marked my entire stream as "restricted", but I never did find out why, or why it was changed (other than me complaining)

You're right Seth. Flickr has consistently had a censorship problem. I'd just like to see them make some systematic changes to improve this. Starting with notifying people when they censor them. I don't think that this is too much to ask. Especially as a paying customer of the site I think I should be allowed to be told by them if/when I'm being censored and why.

I don't mind a "possibly objectionable content" flag (though I'd like it to be broken down into categories) for the benefit of people who aren't necessarily prudes themselves but have bosses who are. But the way the Flickr/Yahoo bends over backwards for the "It's for the children" crowd really gets under my skin. And I completely agree that they shouldn't flag a photo without notifying the user.

Eric, exactly, notification is probably the single biggest issue here. If Flickr is going to censor you I think that they have an obligation to let you know when it happens and why. Doing it behind your back is BS. My own images were censored for months and I didn't even know about it until I figured out the fairly obscure way of using the organizer to find these censored images.

Pete, I'm in the VERY SAME BOAT. My iPhone 3G started locking up two days ago to the Apple logo an no further boot. a 35 min. visit to the Apple store yesterday scored me a NEW iPhone 3G. This morning, this NEW iPhone is doing the same thing and I have had to (in process right now) WIPE and RESTORE. I am very unhappy at this point, to say the least.

The VP can lend experience and does play a major role in the administration but to say the VP is going to make the change that is needed when the Presidential canidate is the farthest thing from change is pretty rose colored glasses..

Jake and Tad, I wouldn't underestimate the power of this. I know three pretty intelligent age-50+ women who have a smidge of misplaced feminism that forces them to consistently make choices based on gender over issue (and openly lambaste younger women who don't automatically side with women on the issue of the day). All backed Hill and are tepid to Obama, and I can see all three of them having an extremely hard time voting AGAINST a woman in November out of some kinda feminist guilt.

my cynicism has been greatly enhanced over these last 12 years. good speech, but talk is cheap, as are the votes of a good portion of the population in this country who have totally contributed to the regression that this country has experienced. unfortunately, they constitute a much more powerful and vociferous voting block than a great speech can counteract.

So much fanfare and praise to start. It's nice, but it doesn't feel presidential. But it's just the start, and I have little to write about yet.

Now he's on education, but I want to know where the money to pay the higher salaries and improve the schools come from. And for college education. Maybe I'm just a bit of a skeptic, but there's limited resources to do some of these things. Too lofty of promises and you're bound to disappoint. Politics is just like that.

@Alex I don't think a lot of people question his honesty or that he's the genuine article. I think people question whether he can be "presidential" and handle the job. So far he's laid out a good case. I'm of the firm belief this election's going to be decided by the three debates. But this is a good way to start.
