Because you didn't just leave quietly, you needed to make sure that everyone who was on FriendFeed understood that you were leaving because we were losers. So I lashed back.
- Robert Scoble
Lots of people call FriendFeed names. That's nothing new and I didn't key in on any of them. Just search Twitter for hundreds of examples.
- Robert Scoble
But when you delete my work when you leave, then you are a jerk. And when you deride my community as lame as you leave, then you are a jerk.
- Robert Scoble
Technosailor wrote that the content was his to delete. No, my comments are NOT his to delete. At least not without being a jerk.
- Robert Scoble
If you missed the original announcement/comment thread in question and know English or Greek, you can judge for yourself how it went down (see attached PDF here: http://friendfeed.com/micahwi... )

I'm taking my ball and going home...

Robert. Cambridge needs you. Great that you are here again. Enjoy.

Well Robert, I guess you should get FriendFeed to do what Twitter did and make all of your comments belong to you rather than the person who's post you commented on.
- ChiliMac
Jim: No doubt the followers went up...SPAM! @technosailor, @technosailor, @technosailor...
- Austin Smith
And @Scobleizer...life's too short...my vote is that once content is either posted or commented, it becomes public domain, much like, you know, EVERYTHING ELSE on the internet! Wat u guys think?
- Austin Smith
No "EVERYTHING ELSE" is not assumed to be in the Public Domain just because it "ends up" on the internet. If that were true then there would be ZERO lawsuits regarding copyright infringement over things "ALL OVER THE INTERNET". ((c))2009+ by "ME"
- CLC Radio
So, like Yo @everybodyontwitter get that?
- CLC Radio
I don't want to comment on this just to get my name on the page. That would be childish.

Can I be in the mob too please? Is it too late? I want to be in the mob!! Hello!!
- Dave Winer
This seems to be a community policy/software issue. Most communities don't allow folks to delete comments and posts because it leaves a hole/gap in the conversations. The profile is marked inactive when someone leaves the community - either leaving the user name intact or replacing it with a more generic one. The right to delete a user account should be a personal one, with no...

Sorry, I didn't know Milad's friendfeed is private.

if twitter could make money from its royal iranian users, founders of twitter were the richest ones now
- شیدا
This shows the problems of centralized infrastructures like Twitter, Facebook, etc. We need decentralized services, P2P …
- Andreas
It's interesting that so many people have let me see their feeds that I get to see things that are supposed to be private.
- Robert Scoble
Andreas: that wouldn't help. Governments figure out how to censor a lot of those things too.
- Robert Scoble
The internet has finally reached critical enough mass that it can't be shut down unless they pull the plug on the whole country. Anyone think that they will go with the internet nuclear option and disconnect the country?
- Luke Kilpatrick
facebook , twitter , delicious , friendfeed has been blocked in Iran since the day before election
- MeŤi
Andreas: we just need fewer governments who see open flows of information as a threat.
- Robert Scoble
so many people in iran is afriad to leave their feed public and let everyone know what they are thinking of, especially the special ones
- شیدا
Yeah, I knew FriendFeed was blocked but I thought Twitter was open. Interesting to see that Twitter is blocked too.
- Robert Scoble
but I liked the idea of decentralized, but isn't that too ambiguous to develop
- شیدا
Yes, Governments are the real problem, but they will not disappear (in Germany we have a debate about internet filtering in the moment, too). Decentralized services could help, but your are right, they are only a workaround.
- Andreas
I'm so happy to see that lots of Iranians are getting around their government's censorship. How can we help?
- Robert Scoble
Is one of the reasons twitter is still getting through is the shear number of ways to tweet or is it just everyone using proxy servers?
- Luke Kilpatrick
Luke: what people are now telling me is that everyone is just using proxy servers.
- Robert Scoble
@Andreas Twitter (and Facebook) may be centralised, but the situation today with these sites is hugely different to the situation in 2005 when Orkut and others were blocked - see http://yro.slashdot.org/article... - and the big difference is APIs. In particular APIs where apps and 3rd party sites can hold permission-to-post tokens... makes blocking much harder.
- Dan Brickley
Lord bless the invention of the proxy server. I only wish I had the means to contribute a few myself.
- Alex Esplin
Ain't that crazy?! "Normal" people forced to user "pirate tools"(like proxy server) to have their voices heard...
- Zackatoustra
take our message to everyone you see. people should know that we are not rebel
- MeŤi
As long as the proxies keep going up there's almost no conceivable way to block this traffic. That said governments will be sniffing and analysing all data so I'm guessing as soon as they see the words twitter & proxie heading somewhere that proxie gets blocked... watch what you say
- David Race
Zackatoustra and MeTi: the more that we can see each other as alike the fewer problems we'll all have in the future. It's too bad that governments are so lame because all your government is doing is hurting its people and keeping them from participating in the Internet economy.
- Robert Scoble
facebook, friendfeed, cnn, bbc, reformist's websites and so on is filtered and we have to use such proxies for getting and spreading true news
- TaaTaa

amir: yes, but I know from my wife's family that all people share the desire to be free and have a government that listens rather than abuses. Keep on working for change, unfortunately it happens slowly. But when it happens it's a wonderful thing. Keep letting us know how we can help!
- Robert Scoble
everything blocks... news agency websites, friendfeed, twitter, facebook, youtube, even yahoo messenger and gtalk

P2P way can be a solution, and anyone in need of it for protecting free speech, contact me in private and I'll connect you with some resources to a "rogue" P2P network (with live chat) that can't be shut down. They tried, failed, users hijacked the network, took over and kept it alive. Their community will welcome you with open arms.
