I played high school football against Ken Griffey Jr back in 1987. His Moeller Crusader beat my team (Elder Panthers) 24-0. Ouch! He was a Tight End / Wide Receiver and I lined up against him a few times. He was so fast that I didn't even touch him. :)

@RobSafuto: Before Griffey went to the Reds and was ravaged by injuries, I thought he was on his way to being the best all-round player player ever. Tim Duncan isn't an "exciting", either, but he's the primary reason the Spurs have won four NBA titles.

I'm just sad he left town today w/out #600. Family all there @ game. Perhaps he'll do it in Philadelphia? We love our Junior (esp. those of us who remember Senior...)

@RobSafuto: We've become more accustomed to the slower, less aggressive Griffey in recent years as injury - and fear of injury - have changed his approach. But in his prime in Seattle you could account for several wall-climbing catches and dramatic game winning home runs on a pretty regular basis.
