Funny that no one commented on the FriendFeed running in the datacenter at the beginning of the video.
- Robert Scoble
I noticed it, and you were very quick to notice! Nice job. Love the fact you take us all to places few get a chance to see. Thank You!
- Michael Fidler
I watched this on qik, but the Facebook feed looks great. Really Great!
- Michael Fidler
Michael: yeah, and if I used a real camera it'd look even better. This is a FlipCam.
- Robert Scoble
ha! I caught the FF from the quick glance at the beginning :) Great vid - quality and content.
- Tim Hoeck
Right now, if you allow users to view larger views, they are allowed to download the original full size image. Flickr needs to implement a feature to allow LARGE view, but without allowing Original download (IMO).
- Justin Korn
nothing isn't downloadable, it's just more difficult.
- clarke thomas
I can absolutely understand why some photographers don't public their pics large, but also get frustrated. It's hard to appreciate an image for what it really is in a small format. Clarke is right though, nothing isn't downloadable, so even if Flickr implemented safeguards (which they should, of course!!), it won't stop everyone...
- Mark Douglass
Rolf Skyberg once dared presenting 400 slides here in Amsterdam, one of the better presentations I've seen. And he has a new one up on his blog (400+ slides) ;-). Or how about Ze Frank? Jonathan Harris? Anyone else have favorites?
- Alexander van Elsas
Franz Lanting's presentation was remarkable to say the least. Felt very fortunate to watch the steam. That made my week. Thanks!
- phil baumann
If I am in an audience and I am not captivated by the presenter, my thoughts wander and I inevitably start looking at email on my phone. But I also typically just leave if things don't change for the better during the session. There is no better way to let a speaker know that what they are saying/doing doesn't hold your attention than to just leave.
- Chris E. Avis
Each presenter should ask himself upfront whether he makes the difference in turning the presentation from good to remarkable. Otherwise he just wastes his audiences time... Unfortunately there are not too many outstanding speakers around, so I'm glad you were among the lucky ones.
- Arnd Gronenberg
I think the single most important fundemental for speaking is a passion for your material. I consder it a job well done when members of the audience come up afterward and mention my passion for the topic. That is exactly what I am trying to confer. Passion and excitement for new media (in most cases this is what I speak about)
- Douglas E. Welch
from twhirl
Douglas: in this case this presentation went way beyond passion. We were witnessing a lifetime of work presented in less than an hour. And magical work it is. It would be like sitting through Ansel Adams telling you about Yosemite in a slide show.
- Robert Scoble
Well, I would say that is actually passion at the peak, summing up a life's work. You had better be passionate about that. (SMILE)

I was one of the mesmerized thanks to Robert's broadcast. This was fantastic!
- Kevin C. Tofel
Good post. I'll watch. Re: Sitting on your laptop or phone during a presentation. Bottom line is it's disrespectful to the presenter. This may sound old-school but it's manners. It's like people in meetings with their heads down in there laptop the whole time. It's why meetings run over and why people are LESS productive.
- Ryan
Ryan: it is disrespectful, yes, but there's no way I'm going back, sorry. At Gnomedex EVERY ATTENDEE is on a laptop.

I love how politics has turned around 180 degrees in recent years, with politicians citing blogs or pushing youtube videos to get ahead of news cycles, rather than vice versa. ( http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archive... ) One step past citizen journalism.
- Kevin Fox
How technology is changing Washington DC: http://scobleizer.com/2008... -- it's amazing how fast things are changing there and how rules, that are really archaic, are under attack because of these changes. Let the politician who understands Wordpress best win! :-)
- Robert Scoble
a link is a link is a link. a link from the speaker of the house should carry some serious google juice.

from twhirl
this is also unfortunately highlighting the dangers of the exponential diffusion of information these new tools facilitate: misinformation travels much faster than ever. It has been extremely frustrating to watch some whose only understanding of the political process comes from one-off comments from others make ridiculous claims as to the intentions of "They" or "Those people in Congress" - its all to easy to say "sure they SAY they dont want to limit speech"
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
@Simon Yeah, it would be a major FAIL if geotagging isn't Flickr compatible.
- Martin Bryant
Interesting. But I'm still bitter there is no stereo Bluetooth out. All the bells and whistles are fine, I appreciate gadgets, but I realize now that MP3/podcast out is more important day-to-day for me than all the rest... If only the Samsung Omnia was closer to being released.
- David Sky
i thought outsourcing his online dating to people who prettended to b him and schedule 1 hour dates with pretty girls all lined up in 1 day was creepy. especially when he fired some outsourced labor 4 picking girls not pretty enuff. if i remember story right that's pretty messed up.

It's a great book, I think i bought the audio book on iTunes then lost it through some HD crashing DRM goodness. Then went out to the book store and bought the "real" book. That guy owes me a beer next time he is in Seattle or where ever I am when we cross paths. I used to recommend it to my coworkers but then I thought maybe i should just recommend it to people I DON'T work with...
- Eric_T
He seems like a "unique individual" but love him or hate him you have to respect what he's doing, what he's done and how well he has made it work.
- Nicholas Kreidberg
Thing is, his book's title is there only to grab attention. And then he spends the bulk of his book trying to make the content fit the title, and spends his interviews defending his book title. Why couldn't he have been more honest in the first place, and named his book something like "Outsourcing unpleasant tasks"? I'll tell you why. Because that was already known, and because it wouldn't have sold. So he created controversy to boost book sales. In my book, that's DISHONEST.
- Raoul Pop
Tim is awesome. The title is what it is and frankly it's probably time folks got over it. He doesn't try and "justify" it - he explains it because people keep asking. Reality? Even in the book itself he is clear and honest about the title. Tim has good advice, and more than that he is a living example of thinking outside the box - just knowing he is out there, pulling it off, helps me think laterally.
- Soulhuntre
Scoble, your welcome for the suggestion to interview Tim, how bout some props?
- adolfo foronda
Adolfo: I have known Tim for more than a year, and he was always my first choice to have on the show. I also got dozens of people asking me to have Tim on the show, but thanks! He was a great guest.
- Robert Scoble
Good FastCompany interview, Robert. Enjoyed it.
- Phil Glockner
I played high school football against Ken Griffey Jr back in 1987. His Moeller Crusader beat my team (Elder Panthers) 24-0. Ouch! He was a Tight End / Wide Receiver and I lined up against him a few times. He was so fast that I didn't even touch him. :)
- Mike Reynolds
@RobSafuto: Before Griffey went to the Reds and was ravaged by injuries, I thought he was on his way to being the best all-round player player ever. Tim Duncan isn't an "exciting", either, but he's the primary reason the Spurs have won four NBA titles.
- Bryan Person
I'm just sad he left town today w/out #600. Family all there @ game. Perhaps he'll do it in Philadelphia? We love our Junior (esp. those of us who remember Senior...)
- Barbara K. Baker
@RobSafuto: We've become more accustomed to the slower, less aggressive Griffey in recent years as injury - and fear of injury - have changed his approach. But in his prime in Seattle you could account for several wall-climbing catches and dramatic game winning home runs on a pretty regular basis.
- Alex Albrinck
Plurk is overwhelming to me. If I step away for 10 minutes, I will have over 100 missed messages.
- Reem Abeidoh
I agree. I really love the concept, but after just a few days I was overwhelmed.
- Sara Ost
It's easier to follow for me than is Twitter, but I'm used to the threaded discussions of Pownce. That said it's already becoming overwhelming. And I just had my first argument there (which I've never had on Pownce) so I'm being less enthusiastic about it than I might have been a few hours ago. Thus this isn't really an unbiased comment as I fear I'm still in a bit of a mood.
- Heidi Cool
threaded response is useful but the timeline is not. I wonder if they can throw ajax in their plurk.com/m and make it alternate standard UI
