- Rainer Helmes
Does it crash every time you try to start it? Mine kept freezing after having installed the latest delicious addon update. See the discussion here: http://support.delicious.com/f.... The bug is not solved yet. Try to start Firefox in safe mode, deactivate all addons, then activate all besides delicious. - Alexander Ebel
Nah, I use Diigo. I haven't been able to narrow it down to any specific add-on. It seems more dependent on how many tabs it's trying to restore... - Rahsheen Porter
“Asphalt has a lot of advantages as a solar collector,” Mallick says. “For one, blacktop stays hot and could continue to generate energy after the sun goes down, unlike traditional solar-electric cells. In addition, there is already a massive acreage of installed roads and parking lots that could be retrofitted for energy generation, so there is no need to find additional land for solar farms. Roads and lots are typically resurfaced every 10 to 12 years and the retrofit could be built into that cycle. Extracting heat from asphalt could cool it, reducing the urban ‘heat island’ effect. Finally, unlike roof-top solar arrays, which some find unattractive, the solar collectors in roads and parking lots would be invisible.” - Alexander Ebel
- Alexander Ebel
Back in 1935, the important thing was apparently to let people know WHERE you were, not what you were doing. And the "Older" button was disabled (only 2 hours' worth of messages were available). - Ontario Emperor via fftogo
um no. no it wouldn't, it would knock us out of orbit and send us into the sun, vaporizing life as we know it or off into space to freeze to death. prob not the best answer to tell a 4 yr old though. yes, yes it would go back up into the sky. lol :p - Matt Musgrave
Matt - HA! OK, that's pretty damn funny. I didn't think earth would get knocked that badly. I figured the moon would spin off from the earth, moving slowly away. But earth's gravity would catch it and put it back into roughly the same orbit. I'll ignore the effects on earth's oceans. - Hutch Carpenter
Ontario - lasso is probably closer to the idea. I think in his mind, he'd actually go up to the moon, tie the rope around it, shimmy back down to earth and pull it down. - Hutch Carpenter
Hutch, makes sense. He could pull it down easily. Look at how small it is. Has he considered pulling the sun down during the winter so it doesn't get so cold? (The sun and the moon are the same size, can't you see?) - Ontario Emperor via fftogo
Bryan - no. But we've got string, yarn, ribbon tied all over the place from his little projects. He'll tie anything. - Hutch Carpenter
Son, you should start by _threatening_ to bring the moon down to earth unless the governments of the world pay you the sum of 100 Beeelion dollars! Bwa hahaha! - Denton Gentry
Denton, why ask for dollars? I'd ask for something important, like cookies or a bike or something. - Ontario Emperor via fftogo
But Hutch, Zelda is a must! What is your email, I'm sending you the original Zelda in Excel! (just kidding) - Mona N.
Son, the question is, would you let the moon go back into the sky? - tagami
tagami - good point. You lasso the moon, you don't give it back. - Hutch Carpenter
One of my 3 year old daughter's favorite books is The Crimson Comet. The Moon is actually an enormous, slow moving spaceship with a huge light generator, but its engine flares out so two children have to fly up in the Crimson Comet (their rocket) to tie a rope to it so they can restart its engine. - Denton Gentry
By myself. Haven't really used it for months but was still getting invitations to games and quizzes and other time-consuming crap. And since hardly any real-life friends of mine are on Facebook, it is not that useful for me. - Alexander Ebel
“Sorry if this was reposted somewhere. I searched in the site but couldn't find anything. Anyways, I created a room for testing a twitter feed but now I want to delete it. How do I delete my room?”
- Alexander Ebel
"The problem is, the comedy stylings of most church pastors is kind of like a combination of Yakov Smirnoff and Rush Limbaugh. You either get the world’s crappiest puns or some sort of evil, hate filled message that’s supposed to scare you into attending, or a totally awesome unintentional double entrendre." - Paul Buchheit via Bookmarklet
I can't wait for the day that the Internet will be just as pretty. :) - possible248
Didn't I see this on an episode of Dr. Who recently? - Lindsay Donaghe
reminds me of when I was a kid and decided I was going to read all the fiction books in the library. So I checked out the first five books. Nope don't remember a one. - Ruth Ferguson
Ruth, you have no idea how glad I am to know that I'm *not* the only kid who tried to read the library! - Stupid Blogger
The Seattle Central Library was my favorite thing to shoot in Seattle on my recent trip. I *love* beautifully designed libraries. - Thomas Hawk

This is a great list to use to add places in the world to my map of things that I still need to shoot. So many beautiful libraries. - Thomas Hawk
Whoaa! Nice finding, Derek. Thanks for sharing. - LouCypher
I've actually been to quite a few of these all across Europe, and they're even more awesome (and smell FANTASTIC) in person. Some are considerably smaller than the photos make them appear, which is always interesting (kinda like the church in the wedding scene in The Sound of Music...it's seems huge on film, but it's really this dinky little chapel filmed wide and high). Really great to be reminded of those visits. Thanks for posting this. :) - abacab
This is an awesome set of photos. Proud to see my alma mater's Riggs Library included in the list. - Ryan Kuder
at one point in my life, i moved the entire collection of books at the Peabody in Baltimore. not necessarily a fun job but it is exciting knowing that the collection will more than likely sit where i put it for the next twenty years. - Nathan Eckenrode

- Alexander Ebel
