"What's your average throughput (real world) on a 100mbit connection? (Hell, I'm interested to know what you can do on this FIOS 30mbit as well). I am stuck with lowly old cable (5mbit I believe) but I can still pull files at a decent clip, depending on the server (300-500k, on some bit torrent files I can push it to a steady 600k) What's the best (sustained) speed you've ever gotten?"

""Yes, right now it may have a resulting energy loss- but what the hell is the point of science/research/technology if we don't pursue something? Right now, its highly inefficient. In the future through research, they can figure out a way to harness this technology and make it incredibly efficient. Everything starts somewhere, and to crap on a breakthrough of a new possible fuel source in this day is ignorant. Dugg down." Go read up the laws of thermodymamics. He's not crapping on a breakthrough, he's pointing out the obvious."

"From TUAW: Returns. If you're within the first 14 days of purchase, you're golden. Go back to the store and raise hell. You may still be charged a $40 restocking fee--theoretically you shouldn't be for exchanges--but otherwise, you're good to return. Apple's official policy states "Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 10 days of shipment, you may contact Apple Sales Support at 1-800-MY-APPLE to request a credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price." One reader writes that he was able to do a return for a September 1 purchase by asking to speak to the manager at the store."

"Saying that Santa is the love from a parent to their child is total bullshit. You're saying that giving your kids material items is love? Please. White lies may exist but that doesn't make them right. Murderers exist to, but that doesn't make murdering ok either. What if a kid's parents don't make a lot of money and Santa doesn't come to their house. What do you say to them? Wouldn't it be easier to tell them the truth than try to explain why Santa gave Jimmy a new Xbox and they got jack squat (was it because they were bad and Jimmy wasn't? But Jimmy's a prick and bullies kids all the time, what the hell?). Innocence is just another form of ignorance and eventually you're going to learn, and the truth hurts sometimes but it's better than continuing to perpetuate a lie. The end is not worth the means to get their. You can make a child happy in other ways than telling them that the presents they got (or lack thereof) got there from some fat guy in a red suit with a bunch of reindeer."

"Found this little nugget interesting: France coach Raymond Domenech this month lauded Materazzi's strategy for getting Zidane sent off. "I say 'bravo' to him," the coach said."
