"It makes little sense to jump ship at the very beginnings of the meteoric rise of Pinterest, unless there are legal pressures -- like the unfortunate copyright issues that have surfaced, knocking at the door of this small company. I wish all the best to you Paul, as much as one stranger to another can wish." - Alex Theberge

Re: Couple bringing Boynton's back | The Kennebec Journal, Augusta, ME - http://www.kjonline.com/news...
"It was heart-breaking and tragic to lose Karen so suddenly and along with it the legacy of Boynton's Market. I grew up in Hallowell and as a child Boynton's Market was the best place to get penny candy little sodas, and read the magazines. Now, as an adult, I love that they had all the necessities of a small grocery store. Fresh fruits and veggies, excellent selection of meat products. Amazing sandwiches and pizzas and, or course, a wonderful wine and beer selection. ;-) A big THANK YOU to Don and Ruth they've given the store another (La)Chance!! Can't wait to see what you do with this wonderful place!" - Alex Theberge

"Why wouldn't the council send this to the voters instead of ... oh right they're democratic. Government over people -- not people over government. Too bad folks, you voted them in." - Alex Theberge

Re: Startup will offer expertise in digital media frontier | The Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram - http://www.pressherald.com/news...
"Congratulation to all involved in this new division, but a "start-up"? I am surprised that this is actually called a "start-up". A start-up company would be amazingly fortunate to have 20 employees at the beginning in this Maine economy. They must have a very optimistic outlook on what the economy can currently offer and must have the  funds to carry them through the off-season. Historically Portland-based organizations claiming to cover all of Maine actually only really cover Portland, with a dash of other areas for good measure. The only thing I can hope is that this new organization doesn't use similar cookie-cutter solutions for the clients they serve like MaineToday Media uses." - Alex Theberge

"... because young ladies like yourself know more about what's going on with Palin, an incidental politician, than the plans that Obama has for our country. My statements are a matter of fact. The media is putting focus on the issues that do NOT matter except to those who wish to be entertained, like you." - Alex Theberge

Re: Discussion of: Sarah Palin: I Didn't Mess Up Paul Revere Question - http://www.newser.com/story...
"It's sad news organizations like this one only hold politicians' feet to the fire when it's entertaining. Doesn't anyone remember that Obama said he'd been to 57 states. 57!? Or nearly took 40 days to finally address the nation about the oil spill? Let's see the tough questions asked to the president. Who cares about Palin, she's not even holding any public office yet!" - Alex Theberge

"The article isn't about Republicans. It's about Paul LePage's administration. Your statement says more about who you are than what the article says about the cuts in MPBN's subsidy. How can you make such a sweeping generalization? The current president want socialism -- to "spread the wealth around" is that what you want too?" - Alex Theberge

"This is a very carefully orchestrated measure of language alluding to, yet not admitting to us, we're about to be involved in another war. We don't have to get involved with this, there is no threat to us! The only logical reason we seem so interested in "Peace in the Middle-east" appears to come to our dependence on oil and the fact it comes from this place. I can't believe liberals haven't cried foul at this -- are they like the rats following the pied piper? Where's the outrage and the feverish discontent when we really need it!?" - Alex Theberge

"I think your son will make an excellent role model! How many people is he trying to reach and what is his message? Is that the path he wants to take? Seems to me your son has a choice, just like Mei-Ling does. To become an active role model. Does that have anything to do with you? I don't think so. Does your son deserve credit for what he's done? Absolutely! What your son knew the risks and did it anyway -- the difference is he's not the first one. I am a decorated soldier myself, but it is a selfless act to begin with. Modeling is by design sharing yourself, or did you miss that point." - Alex Theberge

"You can't be serious. It's shameful and bigoted to disregard her choice regardless of what you'd choose. Stay focused on yourself because this Maine woman has already far exceeded your individual station in life. I'm guessing you didn't read the part where she says: "My concern was, 'What are people going to think of me?' What are people in a small town and a small state going to say? I'm fairly conservative. I'm a Christian, but I'm open-minded." Apparently she left out "small-minds" too. Get yourself a broad-view. Um, no pun intended." - Alex Theberge

"Hey person-who-chose-not-to-be-named, you say you read the article and yet I can see you're still not clear that this isn't an article in need of any kind of a solution or suggestion for musicians playing in bars that serve alcohol. It's about a dear friend we've lost. It's not a place for you to dilute his passing with ramblings of hindsight. I read what you said ... I didn't like your opinion so I'm telling you why. If you're not worried about "free will" why not publish your real name? Are you afraid you can't express your opinions freely without using an alias? If you're not willing to take accountability for your words and actions then why bother handing them out? No one can force you to keep from going on about your opinions, but consider finding some other place and time to convey your "solution" to prohibit musicians' rights to play at bars which serve alcohol." - Alex Theberge

"This article's forum really shouldn't be your sounding board for moral indignation or a call for prohibition. Understanding the topic of concern here is important. We, Hallowell, lost a dear and important, caring, uber-talented young man. You could look at this in anyway you want but the end result is he's not here to share his talent and grace with us. Frankly rambling on about the bars being at fault shows you have issues of personal accountability. Bars/pubs/watering holes what-have-you don't exist to ruin the lives of musicians ... and musicians do NOT, by default, engage in drug use I'm thinking you need to see the world a bit more, experience different cross-sections of our diverse culture and see that no one lifestyle dictates how any one person chooses to live. Environmental factors only create a response -- we all have to be accountable for our own actions, our own choices. "I grew up here and after a long time away came back to find it to be a cultural icon right in my hometown. Ian was amazing. Warm -- caring -- had a lot going for him. Regardless of the reasons he was an indomitable spirit and we miss him dearly. What Paytreot and SKCKJ are exhibiting is an example of the less people know the more they create; the more they create the more they gossip; The more they gossip the less people know. Come to grips with reality, you're not the litmus test for all to follow, no one is. You and Paytreot, both share one thing in common: the inability to express yourself freely without masking your identity. The difference in Hallowell, and many other progressive cities or towns, is they don't have to wear a mask or hide themselves -- they show their true selves. Hallowell has no cowards. Try speaking your mind without the shroud, if you can't then you're not being true to yourself. What is there to be afraid of? You're right most of the time anyway, correct?" - Alex Theberge
