I am looking over amino acids for #BS1015 Dr Willlmotts lectures- on one slide it tells me proline is a non-polar aliphatic amino acid and on another it is listed as a polar, uncharged R group. Does this meen it is a non-polar amino acid with a polar R group? Im a bit confused!
I think (not totally sure!) that it depends on the pH - its a carboxylic acid side chain, so sometimes it will be COOH and sometimes COO-.

I had this exact issue when I was looking over this yesterday, I do remembered Dr Willmott saying something about amino acids often being classified in several groups if you look at different sources.
