I love your answers, and I wish I had known informed people like you when I was your age. Obviously, it doesn't get easier fielding the questions when you become vegan, but those are still pretty much the same questions you'll get asked, and you already know your answers!

"In fact, most vegetarians live a much healthier lifestyle, and you're not very likely to find an overweight one, seeing how we don't eat fat." I think it's established (or perhaps there isn't sufficient evidence) that eating fat doesn't make one fat. I can see how one can be a "vegetarian" and just live on sugar and carbs (while avoiding eating vegetables altogether). All that aside, I applaud you for your thoughtfulness.

I must confess that I'm one of those people who exclaim that one is crazy for being a vegetarian (vegan, especially), but I mean it more as a joke.

Gabe: That's just from being around you so long.

At least I don't have to be the crazy one this time

Actually, you do eat fat if you eat, say, avocado or cheese or even tofu. It's actually bad for you to not eat fat. I'm not saying you should eat animal fat though.

I'll say that though Clare. Bacon is delicious!
