Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Saratoga

Oh wow, those areas are definitely in my neck of the woods.

Good luck, by the way. Let me know if you'd like a referral for real estate agents. I just happen to know a very good one who's very familiar with the Palo Alto/Menlo Park/Mountain View and another who is also good and is very familiar with the Los Gatos/Saratoga area.

Thanks we're really looking forward to moving back to the Bay Area. Three years in London has been fun, but looking forward to getting home.

This just sounds ridiculous. Hopefully this is an unplanned side-effect of a bad rule change. Is there no exceptions?
- Knut
The only exception is if I can get a masters degree before May 5. There is a slim chance that I can apply for a new visa under the old rules if I can get all of the supporting evidence together before Monday.

Maybe Quicken should focus on making their own site work instead of hasseling others. I tried Quicken before I switched to Mint, and found that it couldn't talk to my bank. I filed a bug report, they said that they fixed it, but when I checked again it still didn't work. I gave them two chances. That's one chance more than most customers will give a web service. Glas I switched to mint.

I have to agree with VentureBeat. I don't think the iPhone needs an attached physical keyboard. I do think it needs a better camera. I also think it would be great if I could use a bluetooth keyboard with my iPhone for those times when I want to do a lot of typing.

Cases like this show how important net neutrality really is. There is really nothing (except for irate customers) to stop ISPs from doing this. The more insidious application of these technologies is to silently downgrade the service to your favorite web mail provider, while encouraging you to use the ISP's mail instead.

Holy shit. My impression is that the incoming Obama FCC folks have just been waiting for concrete evil like this to bring the hammer down. Wow.

There has been a lot of speculation that Barack Obama might win the election due to his better "ground game" and superior campaign organization. I had the chance to view that organization up close this month when I canvassed for him. I'm not sure I learned much about his chances, but I learned a lot about myself and about this election. Let me make it clear: I'm pretty conservative. I grew up in the suburbs. I voted for George H.W. Bush twice, and his son once. I was disappointed when Bill Clinton won, and disappointed he couldn't run again. I encouraged my son to join the military. I was proud of him in Afghanistan, and happy when he came home, and angry when he was recalled because of the invasion of Iraq. I'm white, 55, I live in the South and I'm definitely going to get a bigger tax bill if Obama wins. I am the dreaded swing voter.

Great article. I really liked the last paragraph, "I've learned that this election is about the heart of America. It's about the young people who are losing hope and the old people who have been forgotten. It's about those who have worked all their lives and never fully realized the promise of America, but see that promise for their grandchildren in Barack Obama. The poor see a chance, when they often have few. I saw hope in the eyes and faces in those doorways."

I love this. I also love that it is pretty lacking in politics. It's about what one person, with a very unique point of view, saw and felt.

To follow up on Michael, if you select a portion of text, then use the "share on friendfeed" bookmarklet, it automatically copies the highlighted text as a comment, with quotes around it. The article was good too. I think it is great that people are excited about the election. Though I will also be excited when it is over.

"I'm sure you aren't personally a bigot. But yesterday you did vote with the bigots, and yesterday the bigots appear to have prevailed. You and the bigots whose cause you support appear to have won."
