It's better for the internet on the whole. It's a drastic optimization for modern content aggregation. It'd cut way back on power consumption by dedicating less computer power and network power to asking the same question and getting the same answer several times an hour. It also frees up those resources to be used for something else, like cancer research or streaming HD video. - xero
