This picture was taken at Kokohead Crater Botanical Gardens about a 5 minutes walk from the Plummeria grove! Inside the crater it's a desert. The other vegetation is watered... like the hibiscus and the plummeria. - Arleen Boyd
Isn't a lot of Hawaii originally desert (certainly the volcano peaks above the tree line are mountain deserts) a lot of the west coasts were deserts until some 19th century/early 20th century irrigation projects. - Brian Sullivan

Koko crater is on Oahu, out on the east side of the island, near Hawaii Kai (neighborhood), on the way to Sandy Beach, Makapuu Beach, etc. There are horse stables there and hiking. It's pretty nice. - Morgan Haley

I finally got lists, so I've finally stopped complaining (at the end, I begged @twitter on bended knee). Once I got lists, the first thing I did was create my big NaNoWriMo list which is probably the biggest one built so far. When I saw how many lists I was on, I found out that I was on just about everybody else's NaNoWriMo lists already. Yeah, at the summit, you can pretty much see Kailua and Waimanalo at the same time, the hike back affords great views of Koko Crater, Koko head and most of Hawaii Kai. Yes, that is the usual case. A successful hack causes insertion of hidden admin accounts or other backdoors, to let them get in later. Wow! Scoble's Wordpress blog got hacked (click through for the details) & the hacker's secret changes got him thrown out of the Google Index for a while. Make sure you: 1) Always back up your Wordpress blog. 2) Update to 2.8.x, as 2.7 had the vulnerabilities that were exploited in Scoble's case. 3) Check your install for exploits (there are plugins for this), as well as your Google indexing once a week or so. - Alex Schleber

IANAL, so the case write up itself is pretty opaque to me, but going by the summary, one side of the case contended that copyright is a natural right of a creator of any work, and that it should last in perpetuity, and that a copyrighted work should have the same protections as real and tangible property does. The case went to the Supreme Court, and they said, no, copyright can only exist as decreed and enforced by the state and it isn't the same thing as real and tangible property. - Victor Ganata

Chris, my point is that copyright has always had a finite period, whereas trademarks can last in perpetuity. So just because the work has passed out of copyright doesn't mean the trademarks that came out of it have to as well. Well if you;re asking for advice I can put a couple of things out there. First, make sure any original work you create on your own you copyright before you submit to anyone else for distribution marketing etc. As an artists you should know that any work you do while under contract to an employer or as a supplier becomes the property of the employer (or vendor). - Chris Greene

In this example, there is less, but native FriendFeed posts are geared toward conversation starting, while Twitter updates are for conversation ending. I use Twitter as a conversation starter: I guess I'm doing it wrong. I'm not convinced that the difference between Twitter and FriendFeed posts is that massive now: with the removal of service icons, it's very hard to tell which is a regular FriendFeed post and which came from Twitter, and a lot of people don't bother putting in pictures or other rich media with their native FriendFeed posts anymore. - Mark Trapp

Robert I found with the grouping ability and the discussion threads - there's no need for much in the way of user apps here. It's so simple clean and USABLE! Do use the grouping features both for "friends" and "Groups" and have fun with real discussions you can follow! Harold, TweetDeck doesn't work w/ my follower count. I tweet via the Web! - Arleen Boyd

Harold, I'm in te Hawaii group of course to see my local Ohana! And with the BlackBerry group cause I have one, and with Backlink free and Audiophile... but those are just my personal interests. I also like tech stuff but am in many on Facebook. I organized my friends here in groups depending on what they talk about most. - Arleen Boyd
